Why do all Ridley bikes look so tacky? I understand that they're great bikes, but I would never buy one because they look like Fredmobiles.
Giant, Trek, BMC, Specialized, etc. have moved on to make far more subtle liviers but Ridley bikes still look like they were designed by a kid in 2003.
>>979255
This is my Ridley, which I think looks pretty damn gorgeous.
>>979257
Pretty nice, but I feel like it could use a splash of contrast color detail somewhere.
Sram Red would make the colorway look really sharp but is obviously a bit unrealistic. Maybe red nokons for the rear loop, or contrast-colored hubs/skewers. Something.

This makes me think leather.
Leather tape and saddle could look fantastic against that blue. If you like your saddle, you could get it re-covered.
>>979315
eh, saddle is stock. If I replace it it'd probably be as part of a bike fit with sitbone measurements. It's comfy enough for now, though.
And yeah, leather or leather-effect looks promising. All the orange bar tape I can find right now looks pretty fleuro, which is not what I'm looking for.

If you're looking at, say, a $1500 endurance road bike, you're getting a much better dial with Giant than with, say, Specialized. you'll probably get 105 and discs vs Tiagra.
Honestly, branding makes me really self conscious. I ride alone because every time I've thought of joining a group, I see all of them have nice bikes and I feel discouraged. I'm a poor college student and I wish so badly I could buy a new bike but I'm really poor. Is it that bad guys?
>>986271
I've never heard of the brand but it looks like a decent entry level touring bike. I'm a college student. Your bike is nicer than mine and I ride in groups. You're wayyy overthinking it. Everyone is poor in college and if you can keep up in a fast group on a worse bike then that makes the other freds look bad.

To people anal about the performance of their (road) bike like me,tires make a lot of difference.
"Feel or liveliness"rolling resistance,(cornering)grip,suppleness,mileage etc.
'Avin some nice tires tires under yer ass makes a great difference to the ones interested enough to notice.
That having said, cheaper tires can absolutely be adequate/fine..heck even great, but (for me at least) some cyclists a certain tire feels right, mostly the more expensive ones.
That being said, the lower end ultra sports are absolutely fine, they might be more more puncture prone than other tires, but if they work, they work.
I have some laying around on my old rims, for my new rims they are so incredibly tight(STFU I literally mounted thousands of tires at this point,I know how to mount a goddamn clincher lmao)that mounting it would be a PITA,since getting them off and on would be a aforementioned PITAAAA
>>986624
Shit like weight, rolling resistance etc are often more of a concern.
>>986670
Well i think my ultra sports roll great and have lots of grip.
They used to be prone to punctures, but that improved when i switched the chinese crap tubes for contis. Knock on wood.
I don't even know what suppleness means in this context. Easier to mount on rim?
>>986675
What is your benchmark though, some walmart hybrid or an old mtb? You simply don't know any better.
>>986677
