Why are trains autism magnets, /n/?

They're just big cars.
>>
They travel along a fixed track and have predictability and make steady, reassuring rhythmic sounds. You may recall that autistic folk are disturbed by chaos and lack of consistency. A slight change in routine will turn a 'tist into an inconsolable ball of rage, tears, and 'tism. Meanwhile published route maps and complex mechanical systems give them an outlet for their love of memorization.

Also, the operator of a train appears to be solitary and enclosed in a comforting womb of heavy machinery. This too seems well suited to the autistic person's disposition.

Wow, this actually makes perfect sense. I've always wondered why poor souls on the spectrum get so into trains and "train culture". Thanks for your analysis. I'm sure this will hit very close to home for a lot of people that browse this board who do not want to accept what you have said. Looking forward to all the autistic replies.
>>
>>930098

there's no autism quite like bicycle autism
>>
>>930119
I beg to differ, Train autism brings in all the high end autists that get really obsessive about stats, routes, mechanics etc.
>>
>>930101
its true

have you ever noticed how disturbed these autistic foamers get when a train doesnt blow its horn at THE RIGHT EXACT MOMENT? its like a disturbance to routine
>>
>>930111
Nah, there's a romanticism to it. It's undeniable. If you ever understand the blood, sweat, tears, heartache, heartbreak, and toil that go into railroading, then see the final product, a mainline train rolling along at track speed, you'll understand why people fall in love with it.

It's also a justification to stay at home, build your own small toy world and play with toy trains.

Holly shit, that is autistic.

s-bahn innit?
>>
For me it's because I'm a gommunist and I really like public transport. I don't like riding on a bus so trams, light and heavy rail tickles my autism in a really good way.
I also moved to a small city from a rather rural town a few years ago and I like using the light rail every day.

Reminder that Rod Stewart is a huge train guy and has a very impressive model train collection.

Because just like many Americans fantasize about cars since they commute by car for hours, many euros commute for hours in trains and develop some degree of appreciation for them. For example i live in Paris and sold my car when i moved in because it was completely useless here.
>>
>>930274
>Cars in Paris
>Useless
How else are you supposed to transport the dead woman's body after you've raped her, Mohamed?
>>
>>930274
If one commutes by train, that's several hours of (sadly SFW) me-time every day, now that laptops have been invented.

Or you can remove the polarization film from the screen, then only the shades wearing commuters can see your furry porn, but given they are wearing shades, they are there most likely to oggle children, so that can be your mutual bro-secret.
>>
>>930276
Fuck off, this isn't /int/
>>
Because it's pure engineering. There is no sport and competition involved so you don't get the same braindead retards that you get in car and motorcycle culture.

It's also such a beautiful problem to think about: You have so many tons of freight and you need to move them as fast as possible to such and such locations in the most efficient way possible.
>>
>>930260
that's fucking terrifying
>>
Freight trains are totally autistic. Passenger trains are OK though.
>>
>>930119
Cyclists are mostly just hipster and/or yuppie elitists
People into trains are the legitimate autists

Trains are a part of British culture desu
>>
>>930101

Very interesting, thanks. I was wondering about this myself the other day.
>>
>>931643
Really. What an extraordinary photograph. Thanks
>>
>>930098
Finn here. Some guy working for our national railway company posted on Ylilauta a long time ago and said, that train autists are a nuisance for the employees, because they always come to talk to them about train technology and schedules and might get angry, if the employees ignore them. I've seen them quite often hiding in the bushes taking photos and videos of trains.
>>
>>931820
Here if it's revealed that you're a train autist at any point from the job application to the end of your probationary period you're immediately fired.
>>
>>931897
Where is that and what kind of problems do the autists cause there?
>>
>>930318

Wow, I never knew how beautiful the engineering and cost-benefit-analysis of moving freight around was. The Earth is such a beautiful marvel of natural systems and forces that I spend my entire life overlooking the simple beauty of trains.
>>
>>930509
rather be called autist than hipster
>>
>>931643
THIS IS HATLEY HATLEY HATLEY!
>>

/thread.
Perfect explanation. I don't even think we need an internet any more after this masterpiece.
>>
>>930101
First post best post.
It all makes sense now.
>>
>>930153
Wew lad
>>930136
Found the autist in denial.
>>930154
If you're going to do it do it right. It's not even that big of a deal.
>>
>>932440
>Found the autist in denial.
But I actually work on the railroad. There is definitely pride that goes into the work that's different from just about anything else.
>>
>>932441
Agreed. I work with many railroad people in my job and there is a great pride they have for the work.
>>
>>930136
Calm down, you are exaggerating a bit. I work for a railways company and I wouldn't call it blood sweat and tears. Everything happens so slowly, it's very boring to be involved in a rail company. Some people I work with appreciate the engineering and mechanical side of it. These people tend to like al differnt types of machinery, cars, planes, boats, bike.
The true autists love all the numbers and stats of the railway. Say there are 20 locomotives that look exactly the same apart from the number on the front, the true foamers will be upset until they get a photo of each individual locomotive so they can put all the photos in order.
I can appreciate the mechanical and engineering side of the railway, but do not understand the people who run around taking photo of everything
>>
>>932441
Coming from a conductor. I fucking hate trains.
Love my job, but if I see or hear the fuckers on my day off I'm generally not impressed.
>>
>>933074
>Coming from a conductor
No surprise since most are whiny lazy shits that just like to sleep.
>>
>>930101
Holy shit great post
>>
>>933074

Are you that fucking conductor who got used to murdering people or something?
>>
>>934777
Herr Ogorzow?
>>
>>934782

I don't think so, unless that's the name of the guy on /fit/ who talked about how he just got used to people committing suicide in front of his train.

I guess not that many people know about that yet; the thread was only like a week ago.

Nevermind, it was a couple weeks ago, but here it is.
>>
>>933074
Then what are you doing here? Did you come here just to get angry?

Me too.
>>
>>934777
If you're talking about people that jump in front of trains, then how is that murder? Do you know the definition of murder?
>>
>>934806

I was making a weak joke. The guy just took a sort of banal almost-pleasure towards it. Also, he said he'd speed up, but it was company policy not to.
>>
>>934797
He's like the ferry man on the river twix :^)
