What is your favorite railroad livery?
>pic related
I am pretty biased, though.
>>887956
>Duluth, Missabe, and S. Railroad?
>>887964
Fort Dodge, Des Moines, & Southern.
Always loved the erie lackawanna for some reason. One of my favorites for my model railroad.
>>887997
Those headlamps are perfection.
I miss GNER
>>888053
ICS made the 225s look most modern, everything else has been a backward step.
I like the East Coast silver/grey. GNER is ok.
>>888056
Wasn't a fan of the east Coast livery, miss it now the Virgin coke cans are here though.
>>887954
I liked the older passenger cars that the IC had. Chocolate brown and orange. City of New Orleans and Panama Limited.
>>888078
I think VTEC is the worst livery 225s have ever had.
I like that color a lot though
I'm scared of trains.... whenever I'm next to one I feel like someone is about to shoot me do I have trainaphobia?
GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111111
>>888056
I do like the Swallow/Executive livery. Especially on Mk2's.
>>888911
Yeah it really sits well on mk2s. Sadly we now have stupid regulations which mean the doors have to be a contrasting colour. If you can't see where the doors are without them being a different colour how could you even make it to the station without getting run over?
BN's Executive paint scheme is pretty nice tbh. That's a dark green btw, not black.
>>888043
Not bad. Isn't ridership terrible on that though?
>>888070
>the green washed new livery
No, no... Nothing beats the old blue and white "express carriage" livery.
>>892380
It's a train in the desert that goes from Nowheresville where nobody really lives to Nowhereton where nobody even lives.
You do the math.
Most Halloween scheme ever.
>>888840
Sounds like you're.... loco
>>887950
BR blue was pretty good.
The Essex Express/"Jaffa Cake" livery that was used for a time on Class 309 EMUs on London Liverpool Street to Clacton runs was pretty cool
>>894565
Who'd want to take a train into essex?
>>894574
It also goes away from Essex
>>894574
Give me this over the semens desiro trash please.
Is it just me or do trains look better with graffiti on them?
>>894628
Just your degenerate trash scum mentality
>>894628
Do women look better with AIDS tattoos all over their tainted flesh and fucked up "body art"?
Maybe if you're a dirtbag, I guess
>>894628
its just you.
>>894628
Depends. I can appreciate some well executed graffiti on boring wagons or a plain concrete structures but things covered in low-quality scribbles are just terrible.
>>887950
I'm the only one?
>>895250
Why don't railways use telegraph poles anymore? I think it seems better than routing cables along the ground and makes it even easier to steal.
>>895260
Maintaining poles = a lot more $$$ than maintaining a few underground cables and microwave/radio towers that you share with other companies.
>>895250
I wonder how the Chessie livery would look on a locomotive with non-horrible aesthetics.
>>895266
Well there is this....
>>895276
>>895250
Reminds me of the Colas livery
>>887997
Hankyu is godly
>>887950
Obviously that of the Settebello
Phase I is best phase.

SouthWestern Portland Cement company
Just blue and not giving a fuck.
>>901259
They had it right
>>902867
Looks like an EMD export model?
>>902875
I'm sorry i don't know enough about them, i just like the old colours.
>>902876
That's definitely an EMD export model or built by a GM subsidiary in Australia. Looks like two F3s/F7s were joined together.
>>902877
then they went and repainted everything
>>901351
No, only blue.
>>895276
that chessie 4-8-4 is god tier
Best slogan in any case.
>>902877
the internets is telling me that GM licensed Aus. EMD locomotive manufacture to Clyde Engineering
>Tfw no BNSF heritage schemes
>Tfw they'd probably use the ugly freight scheme instead of the Loewy scheme
UP thinks so little of its paint scheme that they let taggers paint over active units. Or maybe they hate gensets too.
>>904306
>arite den
This beauty right here
>>902803
That tank thing on top in front always tickles my autism. I don't like it, hell, I don't even know what it does.
>>910157
Feedwater heater. Uses smoke/steam to heat up water before it goes into the boiler, saves energy. More often then not, it was located on the side of the locomotive, above the drivers.
My personal favorite is the CN "Zebra Stripe"
>And that black cab livery was kinda cool
>>895250
Literally a meme scheme. Probably invented to sell toy trains.
This!
THE BEST BY FAR
>>901351
Plavi voz for the win. Ever taken a ride in it?
>>901351
this is how it looks now, really sad
>>901351
"That looks a lot like a V200..."
>The diesel-hydraulic locomotive ML 2200 C'C' was a 6 axle variant of the DB Class V 200 series of locomotives, which were built for Yugoslav State Railways (JDŽ) by manufacturer Krauss-Maffei.
"Ah."
Nostalgija, Serbian Railways. It's a historic ride on a narrow track.
>>914463
Yeah, I really love these things.
CP is my shit
>>914714
V& B&
I like the New Haven livery
>>918327
Yeah, me too. Just not on the geneshits.
Germany wins again
>>918327
This NH Loco

>>918449
looks like a kitbash. what is it, rail power? brooks?
>>920355
Looks like a GP40-2H rebuild.
>>924656
fabulous
I love you /n/, only board that can keep a thread from October last year up for 6 months.
>>930824
That's nothing. There's year+ threads here.
>>930823
Nice, all of GN's diesel paint schemes were great.
BN should have adopted this scheme.
>>887950
VIA Rail.
Also, this pic was taken less than an hour ago.
I like these.
>>934511
I like it a lot. Is it called anything special?
>>936434
fucking WestfalenBahn it's even worse than all other German train services, never been riding one of these without at least 10 minutes delay - and it's a short distance train.
>>936810
Not sure about officially but unofficially it's called the "hockey stick" scheme. It was Burlington Route's last scheme before the merger into BN in 1970 and was almost the scheme for the newly merged line but they decided to remove the white. Only a few locomotives received the hockey stick paint and most were repainted within a few years. Also the original BN paint was more lime-greenish than later paint jobs.
Postal TGV
>>902880
I loved the red and blue Vline livery
Strathclyde Red...
>>937463
Also came in a bus version.
>>937465
How did the face obscuring the windscreen and headlamps pass safety tests?
>>937477
Wondering this as well.
Love the B&M Minuteman scheme on models, but cant find any decent pictures of real examples
Blue and not giving a fuck was a fucking huge mistake by B&M

Honest question
Was it really? As in did it affect revenue in some way?
Once upon a time, the South had passenger trains.
PL
Santa Fe's "dress blue" or "pinstripe" scheme is their best one IMO. I think the warbonnet scheme is overrated and I'm not as much a fan of the later "yellowbonnet."
>>941672
And they'll have them again as soon as Hussein Soetoro decides its time to start shipping the last bastions of true American patriots to his liberal death camps.
>>941866
wat
>>941874
You've never seen a Trump supporter before?
>>941876
I am one, or will be after Sanders loses the primary. Haven't run into this "death camp train" meme since it was on /b/ in like 2008.
>>941755
Looks breddy classy if you ask me.
Northern Pacific
Norfolk Southern
>>942879
Nice pic
>>894565
>Dat late-80s cosiness
Commuter travel has just gotten worse and worse since.
>>941672
And they died because they went from Shitstainsville Mississishitty to Cumfartston, Alabama to Queefingbay, Georgia.
All places nobody wanted to go.
They died for the same reason that Indiana's interurbans died.
>>941672
They had a better lookin train as well
>>941879
Does this have two engines in it?
>>907833
Cleaning and painting ain't free you know, and you don't become one of the biggest railroads in the world with useless expenditures like that!
>>902880
That livery looks fucking gross on those old units.
>>948236
you know there's no need to post the same picture in multiple threads right?
>>887954
>Death Star
How goes it, my man?
>>948406
this is the only thread i've posted it in recently, maybe someone else posted the same pic
>>914714
Nice. My preference is tuscan & grey, script or block... don't matter.
>>887991
Ayeee trainz. Nice rrmods sd45 m8
About to head out via 335. I fucking love being on this railroad.
>>949730
I love the old Chicago Central and Pacific... Them GP10s are awesome. Never got to see em IRL, they got bought by IC in the 90s btw...
>>944495
The station in that pic was actually the terminus for an interurban from Slidell to Covington (if you count gas doodlebugs as interurbans) that ran until the 1970s. It's rather surprising it lasted that long, as the biggest city on that line is only 50k people.
I can't find any pics of it, which bothers me to no end. Line is a bike trail now.
>>949904
I never knew the Southern ran all the way to Covington. Nobody runs east/west along the north shore.
This is Classic Amtrak to me! The Phase III paint.
>>949934
Did I mention those Classic F40PH's?
>>949932
It was a GM&O branch line that connected to their main line, the former New Orleans & Northeastern, from New Orleans to Jackson.
The right of way was built and paid for to get lumber from the north shore to Hammond and the paper mill at Bogalusa, but ran passenger service well after logging stopped.
Southern ran trains along the main line, but didn't actually own it, I think, until GM&O merged with the Illinois Central. That was in the 70s, so I'm assuming that's when and why the Covington branch was abandoned.
>>941752
the train that made me love trains, love those EP07
>>949938
Hmmm interesting. I always imagined the Hammond sub went further and would theoretically meet up with that paper mill in Bogalusa, but I'd have thought it would have been abandoned long before and never sold off. Sort of makes me sad about how much smaller some railroads are.
>>949989
The Northshore line did at one point run all the way to the IC's mainline in Hammond, but was abandoned I think in the 1950s. IIRC the line west of Covington was a privately owned logging railroad that saw occasional through traffic as a shortcut above Lake Pontchartrain.
I'm trying to find where I got these pictures because it had a more concise history of all these little short lines.
>>949994
Please post it. I'd love to find out more about the old GM&O in Louisiana and the YAMV
>>950000
Found it:

Also this chapter of what is apparently an entire book about the GM&O:

My home :)
The classic "Red Rattler"
She looks pretty good for 88 years old
>>892664
2nding Southern Pacific. It looks even better on the defunct Pacific Electric streetcars.
>>936814
Wut, really? This particular train is always on time, ever since they took over the route from DB half a year ago. It's comfy and the personnel is really friendly. Which routes did you travel? Could it be that you're mixing this one up with NordWestBahn?
This. i remember riding in consists pulled by these as a kid. And the MTA had open houses where I climbed in the cab and looked through it.
>>949938
Hey, Didn't the Murphysboro Rail station, rail yard, get destroyed by the Tri-state tornado? back in the early 30's?
Me on the left.
>>954369
tri-state tornado was 1925, iirc
>>894684
Those NYC pics look like they're from the 70s or 80s.
>>955897
And from what I've just read, you never see graffiti on NYC cars anymore because of rail yard security and the fact that vandalized stock is immediately taken out of service to be cleaned.

>>914007
Metro North is kinda Shitty. Should of kept their FL9s
>>960302
Anon said livery you foamer.
>>959050
Is that live steam?
>>892588
red kills it tho
>>892588
>1488
lol
>>963489
Those are all cab-body "F unit" type trains (except for the European ones mixed in). Mostly EMD F3 and F7 models. They were used roughly equally in freight and passenger service (special passenger models with steam generators also existed like the FP7).
>>963485
I don't get it
>>963480
reverse search next time
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kings_Island_%26_Miami_Valley_Railroad
it is a 3ft gauge train from some amusement park in Ohio
>>887997
So very elegant.
It's obvious.
>>949723
Looks worse than the original IMO
>>914492
They are structurally identical to the German V300 (later Baureihe 230).
>>969029
When was the changed to orange?
Both black speedlettering and red white and black are the best for me
Personal favorite is the Lehigh Valley Railroad livery.
>>887997
Looks classical but futuristic at the same time. I envy the Japanese.
>>888043
Bombardier bi level, seems like the standard for US commuter rails. Here's my local livery.
>>963598
"1488" is a white supremacist mantra, essential /pol/ meme.
