Neighbor may sell me his Cervelo P1 for cheap. Thing is, I don't do tris. Was wondering what all I would need to turn it into a road racer? I am guessing I'd just need to try to change the geometry.
Handlebars are a given, but what else? Shifters, seat post, fork, stem, etc.?
Is it even worth it?!
I don't know if it's worth it since you didn't say how much he wants for it. But I'd probably just flip it and buy a road bike, if I didn't already have one.

Basically it'd be free but I couldn't re-sell it. We're friends with them blah blah blah

Then I guess you can get away with just putting road drops and brifters on it, then fuck around with the saddle position and maybe stem length. No need to change anything else really, unless your height difference is too dramatic.

The frame geometry of a TT bike is different, optimized for riding in an aero position, you'd find it uncomfortable to ride as a road bike, even after chaning out the entire cockpit (which would not be cheap anyway). If you're not going to do TT's/Triathlons then either don't buy it or sell it for a profit and buy a road bike.

Read this re: road vs TT

Probably would not ride well with road bars. Take the bike though. Ride it for fun to mix it up. You could do time trials for fun. Don't have to be a real competition. Just time yourself on a stretch.
Or turn it into a terrible fixay
How much is he selling it for? It might be worth it to just buy it assuming he's not asking much for it. Then you could just use it for solo rides or something.
Looking at that setup, does the thing even come remotely close to fitting you OP?

Thanks for the link. Interesting read and kind of what I had gathered from what friends had told me about triathlon bikes.

He'd basically be giving it to me, but I wouldn't really be in a position to sell it or anything, given that they're pretty good friends of ours>

I'm not sure. It felt alright when I was on it. Definitely more weight on my arms than usual. But it's a 61cm and I'm about 6'3" so I didn't feel too stretched out, if that's what you meant?

Yes you need new brake/shift levers if you switch to drops obviously, different type of lever
Tri bikes are heavy, if you want a road bike get a road bike
