What is the Glock 19 of bikes?
>entry level price
>nothing fussy with a bunch of bells and whistles
>enough of what the average person will need out of a bicycle
>durable and reliable
>>

New here? 90s mtb w/ slicks.
>>
>>1077152
90s mtb is the Mosin nagant
>>
>>1077153
It's both then, since it fits your Glock description accurately.
>>

Or a 90s Specialized Hard Rock
>>
3 gear hub gear old af bike
>>
I know nothing about guns, but judging by your description, 90s rigid mtb with semislicks. Post in >>>/n/bbg for help picking one out
>>
>>1077232
Glock 19 is a model of handgun that can be obtained cheap (except in California), carried on the person regardless of body type (except in California), and can be shot profciently by anyone due to the 9mm parabellum caliber.

No frills, definitely not high end.

The Walmart microwave of guns

I would say giant defy aluminum frame claris level components.

>what is the thing no one actually needs but "rugged self reliant" dudes delude themselves into thinking it's totally gonna be useful when the shit hits the fan of bikes
Fatbike with knobby tires used for sunday rides on the MUP in full kit, with a hi-viz yellow vest, knee pads, and a full face helmet

calm on the surface but paddling like mad underneath

The thing that gets me is that he still isn't wrong. I own guns too but man some people really do delude themselves.

This is a wise answer:
>>1077319

My answer would be something like a mid-level Jamis Coda or a Trek FX. Everything is good enough for anyone who doesn't need to do anything special
>>
>>1077150
Glock 19 is not like a 90's mtb. It's a flat bar road bike

90's mtb is moist nuggest
Drop bar road bike is glock 17
12g is full suspension mtb
Ar15 is cyclocross
Ak is mtb
>>
>>1077150
Pure Fix or whatever fixieshit is a glock. Both are pieces of shit that are a gun and a bike respectively.

honestly im gonna have to go with
>>1077359
specifically the new flatbar version they have out with a 1x drivetrain. it's fairly cheap, steel frame means reliable, and it's super versatile, as opposed to the mountain bikes people are posting which are, well, mountain bikes. made for mountain biking. which you shoudn't get if you're not mountain biking.

There's a paradox between "entry level price" and "durable and reliable". an entry level ~400-500 dollar bike wont be durable and reliable. just wont happen. just like a 100 dollar gun won't.
>>
>>1077336
+1
>>
>>1077279
I like guns. I have wanted a nice wooden rifle for a long time. But I don't have a place to shoot it or the time.

Projecting strong views onto other people keeps most of us from having nice things though.

Guy who wears a black bandana on a fatbike is probably posting on his own echo chamber about my weird appearance. If this place wasn't so angry I'd post a photo so we could laugh at me too.

>There's a paradox
The word you're looking for is dichotomy. A paradox is something counter intuitive or self contradictory, but true.
>an entry level ~400-500 dollar bike wont be durable and reliable.
Yes it will. It will not, however, be light weight.
>>
>>1077454
Tbh i want a 3 speed/whatever speed inner gear hub flat bar road bike. That's like having a p229

Time trials bike = sniper rifle
>>
>>1077543
Just go with a sturmey archer aw or something that has a 177% gear range, none of that 186% wide range nexus bullshit.
Glad im building a 5 speed ffs
>>
>>1077544
what kind of gun is a sniper rifle?

do you mean something like a remington 700 in a Accuracy International Chassis System

or like an Ar-15 DMR?

or is all your gun knowledge from video games
>>
Glock = Trek
Boring, but very reliable
>>
>>1077569
Nothing more reliable than creaking BB86 bracket bearings, missing frame gussets and hydrogen embrittled seatpost bolts.

what about all this >>1077323

the guy doesn't even say which 12g shotgun is specifically a full sus mtb, nor did he specify which AK pattern rifle fit the personality of a rigid mtb

what a travest
>>
>>1077566
i think he means an M107 Anti-Materiel Rifle, which is still wrong.

90s rigid mtbs aren't really mtbs in the modern sense
they're best on slightly shitty roads or on light singletrack
pretty much perfect for city use

Giant defy because

1: Giant is the biggest mass market bike dealer sold brand in the world. Glock isn't the biggest gun brand in the world but it's most recognizable. every handgun is a glock to the media even if it's a dan wesson 1911 chambered in 10mm or a FN 5.7

2: Defy aluminum doesn't require as much maintenance as a carbon dura-ace bike like the glock 19

3: anyone can ride it since it ships with platform pedals rather than no pedals like most high end carbon full suspension hydralic disc brake equipped mtb bikes

4: can ride it everyday everywhere, glock 19 is carried eveywhere

5: Defy frameset has a high end and a low end. Same with glock. the 19 is chambered in 9mm para, little brother to the glock 17. the 17L: is a competition gun, with the glock 34 being a no frills no compromise solution to the 17 frame. Glock 18 for select fire special operations essentially a 17 with a different action.
>>
>>1077938
I love hardtails, light and fast and brutal like a F1 racecar but not very comfortable compared to full suspension mtb's.
