Greetings from /o/

I see a lot of bikes and public transport here, why don't you work harder and get a car?
>>
Joke's on you, I have a car and a bicycle.
>>
Working harder is for getting Di2, power meters, carbon wheelsets and Rapha.
>>
>Ruining the fun of driving by constantly doing it at rush-hour, when you're stuck in traffic and worrying about work

Foolishness. My car is for long jaunts to exciting places and late-night synthwave zen sessions.
>>
i dont like to work
i have a car-house that i stuff my bike in
i wont get my future ruined by riding public transportation while intoxicated
and
i can ride my bike like a madman without having my car and license confiscated
>>
Because having a car is working harder, I'm too lazy to circle the block for 45 minutes like a retard just go have the opportunity to get in a fist fight for "my" parking spot. I'd rather just ride my bike or take the subway like normal people.
>>
>pay for fuel, pay for parking, pay for registration, pay for insurance...
>stuck in traffic, have to go speed limits, just sitting there in a box

sounds like fun anon
>>
>circle the block for 45 minutes like a retard just go have the opportunity to get in a fist fight for "my" parking spot
not owning a parking spot ... fucking pleb

>i wont get my future ruined by riding public transportation while intoxicated

public transportation, disgusting! ever heard of a taxi?

>>1070266

Of course you would you degenerate pussy. How about you put down that milky coffee and have a cup of HTFU and use your atrophied body for once.
>>
i need the exercise, the activity takes the edge off my anxiety and gives me a good sleep at night. cars give me claustrophobia
also I can spend the money saved on pc parts and junk food

>>1070287

>>
>>1070287
For a baiter, your replies are rather underwhelming. Unfortunately it seems to work either way.
>>
>>1070255
> implying I'm not top 5% earner

Mate. I earn enough that I don't need a car, like you pleb (((people))) do. I'd rather drop 20k on bikes each year and actually rent a car whenever I need one.

Wasting a significant portion of my allocated segment of existance in traffic and supporting a car is foolishness anyways.
>>
>>1070266
>Working harder is for getting Di2, power meters, carbon wheelsets and Rapha.
>>1070287
>you what now?

Di2 groupset (all the hardware such as gears, brakes etc. Very high end electronic, think flappy paddle gearbox)
£2000
Power meter (measures torque output and for training seriously is indispensable)
£500~£2600
Carbon wheels (lightweight, aerodynamic, better bearings)
£600~£8000
Rapha (expensive bike clothes)
Fully kitted out £300~£500
Aero bike frame
£600~£5000

Yfw you realise that some of the bikes you see are worth more than what you earn in a year and that they've spent it on their hobby because they have that much disposable income... Priceless.

It was maybe a 3/10 effort at trolling but next time you ought to research your subject matter before starting another troll thread. Cheers for stopping by though.

The leg and hip exercises you do when cycling help the flow of oestrogen throughout your body, and gives you female hips. Enjoy being prime boipucci while having to move over to the side of the road like a cuck whenever a car comes by.

I've found a Reacto 300 for 30% off (last years). I'm pretty tempted, it looks great. There's also a CAAD8 at the same price. Just wish they were nearer so I could try them out and not be buying blind.
>>
Greetings from /n/

I see a lot of cars and trucks here, why don't you work smarter and get a bicycle?
>>
>>1070255
What's with the faggy mentality that it's bad to be okay with slightly less luxury in exchange for more freedom? Fuck you, I plan to get by on as little work as possible.

$2000 - $26,000 for a bicycle?
You can get a car with leather interior, heated seats and steering wheel, air conditioning, a sunroof, cruise control, nav, and a nice stereo for that.
Plus you'll get to work not smelling like a locker room and gassing out your coworkers with disgusting BO.
>>
>>1070471
>You can get a car with leather interior, heated seats and steering wheel, air conditioning, a sunroof, cruise control, nav, and a nice stereo for that.
Sounds like something a fat guy from Ohio would jizz his pants over, no thanks
>Plus you'll get to work not smelling like a locker room and gassing out your coworkers with disgusting BO.
>wat is a shower
You revealed a lot more about yourself than you expected there
>>
>>1070388
i think the CAAD8 would be the more endurance minded option. My Reacto 500 is brilliant at being fast, but for rides over 4 hours i would prefer something a bit more comfy and perhaps lighter.
>>
>>1070471
>cruise control
did you know that some people actually have basic motor control? I hope you don't have to do anything at work with even the slightest precision.
>>
What's the point in owning a car if you live in the city? It takes longer to get to work by car than it does by bike.

Coffee is for the weak. I stay awake through sheer willpower, and a good night's rest :^)
>>
I only use my cuckmobile for out of town trips, and the hour to get out of the city is excruciating. No wonder cagers are such faggots I'd be insane putting up with that bullshit on a daily basis.

Joke's on all of you, I have one car and five bicycles (two of which are carbon, either of which is worth more than a car), and I usually travel by bicycle because I'm not a lazy fuck fatass.
>>
>>1070523
I commute by cage 40 miles a day, I hate it. I stay in my office until 7pm just to avoid most of the traffic bullshit. 20 mile commute is half an hour.

The alternative is 2 bus rides+a train ride to get to work, which would take me 1.5-2 hours because the counties here are shit at transportation and can't synchronize the timetables properly.
>>
>>1070490
I do live in the midwest though, and family is 6 to 9 hours away. For being from /o/, it seems like you need to suck less when it comes to driving.

Yeah, you just put the groceries in a bag and hang it off the handle bar, it's amusing how much LARPing is going on in this thread though, as if your entire lifestyle has to revolve around cycling.
Ideally I'd love to have all kinds of stuff in my garage road bikes, MTBs, tandems, electric scooters, motorcycles, a beat up 4x4 for fun/hunting, a nice modern sedan for long distance driving, a retro car to work on as a hobby
IRL pic related is the best for short distance city commuting, they are cheap and effortless to own and use (at least over here they don't require a driving license or registration).
>>
>>1070619
It was just a picturesque example, I use a backpack in fact.

I will admit the warm bread was an exaggeration though, by the time I leave work, it's usually very much at room temperature indeed.
>>
>>1070255
When I lived on-campus at UIC Chicago, I lived just a handful of blocks from Union Station. Getting to The Loop was faster on two tires than by car. I had access to most of the Chicagoland area just by taking light rail. A bike was great there.

Now that I'm out in DeKalb, a car is much better since everything is spaced out so much. I could still save money by riding to work, but I am sincerely not interested at this stage of my life. Riding recreationally is still something I do, though.

Tl;dr it depends where you live. Bike is better if you're in a dense city with good transit options.

The correct way is to grow your own damn vegetables in your backyard and sustain yourself.

Now with Amazon you can bulk order a ton of things and have even less reasons to leave your house/yard. The cage and self-checkout counters were only the beginning in this wonderful path to removing forced social interactions.
>>
>>1070823
Renting a car every weekend, and having to return it with a full tank and possibly get hit with bullshit fees and taxes, is in the long run, more expensive than owning an older, low maintenance car with the most basic insurance plan and filling it with gas as you please.

Some big disadvantages of rentals is that you're probably going to have to take a bus to rental agency, wait for them to be open, stand in a line, waste time doing paperwork, return the car by a certain time, and worrying about more things than you would if you owned your own car. Not to mention most rental agencies are interested in where you're going and what you're doing and generally charge you exorbitant fees for trying to return the car to a different location then where you originally rented from. This last point is important if you're going to stay somewhere for a while and don't need to use a car for the time you're there. Plus it's an invasion of privacy.

With your own car, you just pack your stuff and get going whenever you feel like.
>>
>>1070967
>get a car with full tank
>return it with full tank
I don't see how you end up buying more gas in this scenario. Also you're forgetting the cost of parking spaces in large cities.

Also do you really go out of town every single weekend?
>>
>>1070968
With parking it depends which city and if they have free parking. Some do, especially on weekends. Even when I go to my city's downtown I never pay for parking because I know where to park for free. Though I do wish the damn commuter train that goes downtown actually ran on the weekends.

I don't go "out of town" or more than 25 miles often, but I do drive every weekend usually to take care of errands I couldn't do during the week or to meet family, or to local events where the buses don't reach out to.
