What are the best shoes to commute in on flat pedals?

Got a CX bike, and mah commute is 30 mins. Got pedals as pic related.

Or should I invest in some clip in shoes?
>>
>>
>>
For a 30 minute commute don't bother with clipless. Unless your commute has plenty of off road sections or is 90% climbing.
>>
My best grip on platforms is with adidas rod lavers, but I'm not autistic enough to really worry about it. If I was that concerned about grip I'd use clipless. 30 minutes is a little short to bother with clipless as the other guy said.

Just whatever you do don't use toe cages or straps, that's for retards.

stiff soles good for power transfer

>>1055681
Clipless is fine if you're going to change shoes anyways.
>>
I like clipless for stop and go riding. Lets you instantly reset pedal position of non kickstand leg for push off without removing that foot from pedal. Plus I've grown so used to clipless I'm always pulling my feet off flats on the upstroke.
>>
I have been using Nike SB with lunarlon soles since july and I highly recommend.
that shit is made for plastic flats and the looks are killer too. so happy I've chosen this over clipless

I have the impacts and the aescents. The impacts are heavy as fuck. But yeah anything with the stealth rubber sole is the way to go for flats.

Funny I was going to say it looks like something my 60 year old aunt wears (note, my 60 year old aunt rides like 250 miles a week and her bike collection is worth more than the aggregate student loan debts of Bushwick)

Not criticizing anyone's choice here but I tend to look at this as the round trip time. If I have a 30 min or an hour commute that's an hour or two round trip on the bike. For that, I'd rather clip in because I enjoy it a little more having foot rentention. My commuter has dual sided (flat/spd) pedals and I have dzr's I wear to work comfortably. Or I can wear my mtb shoes and take my vans slip ons with me. The drawback to the shimano dual sided pedal is that the flat side isn't as big as nice flats are. On big flat pedals like OP you can wear anything.

They are just poorly made shoes. Cut is too low causing instant blisters. Sole delaminated pretty quickly. The still had the tags when I bought them. Waterproofing turn my feet into prunes. Lace eyelets dig into your feet if your using straps. The main problem I have with then is that the are in no way better than vans but cost(not to me) 5x as much.
