Hey /n/iggas, I got a job delivering food by bicycle. I was thinking about either buying a cheap single speed or a cheap shimano nexus 3 speed.
I don't wanna ride my road bike because I don't want to wreck the components just pissing around in the city.
What would you recommend? Do 3 speed components last? You can buy them pretty cheaply here and they have semi-decent geometry.
90's rigid mountain bike w/ slicks.

don't fall for the whole SS/Fixie bike messenger meme
having only 1-3 speeds is going to suck ass if you're hauling cargo
get something with a derailer on it
maybe a cross bike / lightweight touring bike, easy to setup for carrying junk

Yes

>3 speed
Only consider this if you have literally no hills to climb. They will eat up flatlands but are absolute murder on hills, and you will find yourself walking it up anything steeper than a driveway.
I deliver food on an OST and hardly ever shift. I stay on a low gear since I don't want to get too sweaty too fast. Pretty flat around here though.
Either a medium/low ratio SS (no track bike gearing for carrying lots of shits around)

If I were in your shoes, I would pick this up:

If the rackbag isnt included I would buy the cheapest set I could find off amazon and carry the food in there, backpacks are for suckers.

This desu senpai.

but it's more fun anon
I got one after a year of fulltime messwork when I started getting real tired of it and it instantly got more enjoyable

you obviously haven't done messwork with food, every single bump from the road/sidewalks/whatever will fuck up the food instantly. Backpacks are just plain better in every way for this

All the food delivery companies i know use special boxes with springs.
>>1053581
All the food delivery companies I know don't.
I guess it depends on the city/country.

were you at bike pirates at any point anon? I think i saw a foodora courier there recently
Mmmm I want to try my hand at being a messenger. Need to move to a city though and replace my 30+lb mtn bike, don't know with what.
