$799 shipped. Is there a better mountain bike for the price than the Diamondback Mason?

Those fucking rims though

They are a little gaudy but tolerable I suppose.
I'm not sold on the whole 27.5+ thing but it is hard to argue against a bike with those specs for that money. Just ad a dropper and you are set.
Would this be a good entry-level mountain bike? I feel like I have reached the limit of my eighties hardtail mountain bike
>>1036748
it is a good bit above entry level so yes
its $799 cause plus is dying. i bet that bike is 35 lbs.
>>1036757
I think it's $799 because they are rolling out the 2017 model soon.

Everything you just said is wrong
>>1036734
looks pretty rad to me. buy it, why don't ya?

I liked it so much I did. That's mine in the picture.
How are the brakes? I've not played with Avid hydraulics in several years, but I owned a couple sets around 2008-2010. They were great when they worked, but bleeding them made me want to kill myself... and it was needed far too often. (along with a couple lever rebuilds that were a giant pain in the ass). I switched to Shimano and have used their stuff ever since- so now I only start to feel suicidal when it's time to buy new pads.
I had read that Avid re-designed their hydraulic stuff around 2013ish and were no longer terrible, what say you OP?
And you did good BTW, that is a great deal for what's on the bike. The "trail" version is only $100 less but the equipment pales in comparison (Suntour fork and Tektro brakes, yuck!)

Add $120 for brakes that don't fucking suck. Avid, not even once.

>so now I only start to feel suicidal when it's time to buy new pads.
Stock Shimano pads are shit, even the top of the line Saints or XTR. Even Chinese Ebay pads last longer and perform better. Get some aftermarket pads, you can even get some with heat sink fins like the Shimano's.

>>1036734

frame and fork are good- rest is shit
