So I've got an appointment to have a heart rate monitor put on my chest for 24 hours tomorrow due to the palpitations and shortness of breath I've been having when I lie down.
Pretty sure that I'm gonna end up being diagnosed with early heart failure.
Are my days of cycling basically over?

If you have arrhythmia or atrial-fibrillation there are drugs (e.g. beta-blockers) that can help. Some pros race with this condition; it's not career ending.
I have arrhythmia and some more shit in my heart, I get palpitations that scream "you're dying m8" (like I know that if I don't change my position I'll die in a few moments) when I lay down facing down, and I cycle every day. I'm not a pro obviously but yeah, your cycling days are not over you retard.
Hopefully it won't be too bad.
Wait, isn't exercise supposed to be good for your heart?
I did the same test, twice. Saw 2 specialists and many doctors at the ER and elsewhere.
Came back nothing.

Yeah calm down OP. I thought I was going to die of diabetes or something but it was just caused by anxiety.

Emotional stuff can cause a lot of physical symptoms. I vomited repeatedly, shortness of breath, could hardly walk or run, etc. You know where it was? It was all in my head.
