Alright trai/n/fags, it's time for the "Worst paint scheme on a train ever" game!
I'll start, Seaboard System. The most god awful color combination known to man.
>>1023601
Not even close.
Havent seen any paint schemes on trains I didn't like
A train could rock 80s fluoro and I'd like it
Paint schemes generally don't affect transportation except for affecting the absorption of radiated heat, and visibility.
Shouldn't these threads be in /gd/ - Graphic Design?
I like trains, but these threads about graphic design on /n/ are ridiculous.
>>1023668
By your logic 90% of bike threads on this board should be posted elsewhere as well. Just saying.
>>1023682
I agree, they should be posted in /asp/ and /sp/.
>>1023615
I actually think this looks good
>>1023601
All of Amtrak after Phase III (which still looks like garbage compared to Phase I)
When i was a kid I went on an excursion on a train sponsored by a glass company - it was painted in this hideous abortion of green, blue and red. Weirdly, one of the carriages had a museum about the history of glass in it.
>>1024741
That would have been the Pilkington Glass Exhibition Train. IIRC the 1980's version was re-creating the original 1938 version as a 50th anniversary thing.

'dat Intercity liveried 47
>>1025920
Fuck PRC.
Fuck CPC.
Fuck MTR.
I'll just leave this here
It's difficult to get bad livery. Most in this thread are mediocre at worst.
Yellow with grey as in >>1023615 looks great on cargo trains and technical locomotives.
Flag on >>1023616 is the only out of place element on this train, being 3D in contrast to flat paint job of the rest.
Silver with colour accent is a really good and simple choice for fast passenger trains.
Pic related is awful, California High-Speed Rail planned livery. There are two strong colours, with none being dominant. It would look much better in blue with only yellow accent.
>>1027110
The good news is that paint scheme (along with CAHSR itself) will never get past the concept stage.
>>1023682
Agreed. Get the bikes out.
This is pretty fucking awful.
Engine only, no tender. Worst paint scheme ever.

>>1027150
Man, you wanna hear something depressing that occurred to me the other day?
If CAHSR is by some miracle completed on schedule, it will have taken us as long to build it, with proven technology and a solid economy, as it did for Japan to go from being a destroyed, defeated, and bankrupt nation that had just been nuked to developing and deploying the first such system in the world.
Talk about pathetic. And that's if it even happens.
A livery known as "Barbie" as formerly worn by First Great Western (FGW) high speed trains in Britain. It replaced a rather fetching green and gold livery known as "fag packet livery" introduced in the late 1990s, to much disgust. It may entertain rail fans to Google "first great western liveries" as over the last decade they have spent millions of pounds on paint schemes, some better some worse. My favourite has to be the fag packet livery by far, what's yours?
>>1023615
I actually love that scheme.
Side request, Can somebody tell me the type of train that is?
>>1029839
C40-8
>>1029842
Thanks
>>1028394
The First dynamic lines livery was awful. A dull shade of blue with faded vinyl lines. I always viewed it as a desperate attempt to be high tech - but it will never work as you can't hide 40 year old rolling stock that easily.
>>1028394
Fag packet was okay, but Dynamic Lines was better. The new GWR green is great; by far their best. Barbie was just...I have no idea what they were thinking.
Still the best livery ever on an HST has to be Executive/Swallow.
>>1027872
Caltrain is one of those few passenger trains whose current paint job and general look is an improvement over what they previously had.
Frankly, I would happy to see them repaint the Capitol Corridor and San Joaquin trains the same way.
>>1029944
I don't mind this one actually, restrained and dignified, that shade of navy-blue usually ages very well, like the rolling stock its been painted on.
>>1025920
Pretty bad 2bh
>>1029944
i liked that livery better than the current GWR green.
>>1027106
egads
These trains are so fucking ugly, but they are so comfy to use
>>1034619
That doesn't actually look that bad.
>>1023601
Britbong reporting in.
Love the class 73, but dutch rail livery is ass IMO.
>>1037472
>dutch rail livery is ass
You wash your dirty whore mouth out
>>1024650
except those P42's are phase V... I think the phase III P42's looked better
>>1026321
meh thats just a temporary 1976 bicentennial paint scheme... most US RR's had a gaudy red white blue scheme for that year
>>1023601
Seaboard System isn't even that bad considering what replaced it (CSX).
>>1023601
I find it quite alright actually. Sober and minimalistic.
>>1040173
Are you saying blue and yellow is bad or are you just bashing CSX?
>>1041330
>Are you saying blue and yellow is bad or are you just bashing CSX?
Yes.
