When I ride an airplane at night, I often love looking at the absolute darkness, or the clouds, or the stars.

When I ride after 6pm through the Turkish and Arab boroughs of Berlin. Not good. After I got harassed several times (often they sit in their cars), I started to come up with alternative routes that take longer but are safer.

My parents live a little way off the main street next to an area with a forest and a riverside park where there is a market once a month. The area is completely unlit so it can turn pitch black at night. There's only a small streetlight in front of the house.
I have no trouble riding my bike through that area, as long as the light is working. But I usually walk the long way around on foot, and even then the last 50 meters usually give me the heebie jeebies.

Snake Road aka Carquinez Scenic Drive in Martinez, CA. It's just a path on the side of a hill above water going from Martinez to Port Costa which is spooky at night. You also pass by a cool historic cemetery and will possibly encounter tweakers. Only rode it at night coming home from the bar in Port Costa.

Live in ft.worth texas on the slowly gentrifing side of the south, like any metropolitan city it has areas I dont ride by like near the Grayhound station. My GF is permanently worried I'll be killed on my commute by a tweeker/hobo but she's sheltered af and honestly cars are more of a threat
