Mid-range shithole, I would peg it in between Columbia and Argentina but leans more towards Colombia, especially as the criminal element from Colombia has been creeping over the border in the last few decades. Kind of poor but charming little country. I've only been there because my family comes from there.
In terms of tourism, you have things like the Andes mountains, the volcanoes, the Amazon rainforest, old Spanish colonial architecture in the larger cities, pretty standard stuff in terms of South America, but also there's hot springs that are popular tourist draws, sightseeing train tours, the middle of the world monument/equatorial line, and the Galapagos Islands.
there are also scenic trains in Europe

My God! Even the supports for the power wires are ugly!
Oslo to Bergen line in Norway. This is not some touristy stuff but a regular busy railway line.

Looks like California in the Spring.
The Eel River canyon route of the NWP was pretty scenic, too bad it's never coming back.
The Rocky Mountaineer, Canada

Beautiful scenery and nice paint scheme.
The Copper Canyon Railway (a.k.a.: El Chepe) in Mexico is supposed to be neat. Imagine a rail line going straight across the Grand Canyon, and the canyon were bigger.

The cp line between lyton and kamloops British Columbia is pretty damn epic. Hell, even after that it's still pretty hairy. blows my mind that they managed to build train lines through here 100 years ago.

>Hogwarts Express at Universal Orlando Resort
It's an exceptionally well-designed fake. It looks like the real thing, but the rail system is actually a low-angle funicular railway (two ride vehicles attached together by a long cable and act as counterweights to the other like in an elevator). You couldn't even put the real locomotive used in the movies on the track, as the track is wider than normal.
If you are in Orlando, and you want to see legit historic steam trains in action, you can see them at Magic Kingdom in Disney World or at a lesser-known place one hour north called the Orange Blossom Cannonball, but not in Universal.
Austria, all of it. Especially Vorarlberg.

Nice, what kind of plant is that in the foreground?

I'm torn between Norfolk and Western's Virginia countryside and Southern Pacific coastal route through Southern California.

If you want a steam engine pulling the train, the Virginia countryside is a good bet. The one in your pic, the 611, was recently restored and, based out of its base in Roanoke, gives frequent excursion tours.

Where in Japan is that?
