>mountain bikers who can't bunny hop
how is this a thing? Seriously I see people all the time who have been riding for years and can't bunny hop for shit.
Why? why why why? it's not that hard.
>>1002738
hey idk how to bunny hop, how do you do it?
>>1002738
Bunny hop is so relevant to mountain biking.
One can not complete a mtb trail without bunnyhopping.
Well I'm doing my best, god...
No need to be a shit sucker about it. I can jerk any bike off the ground the other way, but bunnyhopping is something I haven't mastered yet.
>>1002749
This applies only when there are fucking park benches on the track as obstacles. Doing a normal jump on a bicycle is not called bunnyhopping.
>>1002738
>how is this a thing?
I wish i knew. Then i might actually figure out go how to do it.
>>1002738
>clipless riders, specifically roadies who can't trackstand
Sure is efficient taking 30 seconds to clip in properly after the light turns green.
>>1003000
I'm bad at clipping and it only takes like five or seven seconds, and sometimes even I start riding with just one leg to gain some movement and not getting stuck trying to clip in.
>>1002738
>tfw as a bmxer I could bunny hop up onto picnic tables
>tfw now I have trouble with hopping onto curbs ith my road bike
>>1003016
Congrats on looking like a dickhead. Meanwhile I'm a kilometer down the road on my MTB with flat pedals.
>>1003019
Aaaaaand then you're dropped :)
>>1003024
Naw. Then I drop you on the hills because you probably fell for the non-compact crank meme too.
>>1003026
Nope. I drop you because you are on a 90s rigid meme and I actually race
>>1003124
nope i drop u cuz i habe dubs
>>1003125
Embarrassing.
>>1002738
>Why? why why why? it's not that hard.
i just started. give it some time, fella. i can't even manual or wheelie yet, i just end up flat on my back.
>>1003024
Aaaannnndddd then you fall on a simple corner.
As proved in the TdF and Olympics, roadies, even the "elite", are cycling babies that lack basic bike control
Bunnying is an essential skill for road riding too. I've definitely avoided some serious last-second obstacles on my road bike because I bunnied them, and saved myself some wheel work avoiding potholes and bumps. It's also fuckin fun. Ironically my current mtb really needs some pace to bunny because it weighs a ton and is as long as fuck. But it can barrel over most shit.

This.
>tfw hopping over speed bumps at +60 km/h
>>1003853
Even the best make mistakes when they're riding on the limit. Though there are tons of roadies whose bike handling skills are awful. It's much more common with late converts into cycling who buy an expensive road bike and never leave the pawed path. Not so much with those who've been riding all their lives. They've bombed down singletrack trails and fooling around ever since getting their first bike. No one cares if their bike takes a beating when it's a cheap bike their parents bought for them.

>Even the best make mistakes when they're riding on the limit
Those pro pelotons are like a rugby scrum sometimes and the tiny cheesecutter tyres that roadies are forced to ride just aren't fit for purpose. Those guys go fast.
>>1003857
Is it one of those things you have to start off learning at a decent speed, like riding no-handed?
I was having trouble with the latter until I said fuck it and tried at speed.
>>1003867
I'm not talking about pelotons, I mean when pro roadies having horrendous line choices and brake on white lines when it's wet.
Basic mistakes
>>1003867
I thought we were talking about riding skills and not pelotons. Shit anon here >>1003874 mentioned. Not knowing how to corner or choose a line for corner. Braking/leaning on wet white lines. Not knowing how to effectively brake. Not being able to bunnyhop. Not knowing how to handle some dirt on a road, especially in corners.
Even some pro roadies have awful bike handling skills but you've seen nothing until you go look a local race with amateurs. You can almost instantly tell who are the guys who've been riding their bikes since being kids and who are the ones who have only gotten into cycling later on. Especially if the conditions aren't perfect. CX races bring out the bike handling skills even more but those usually don't have the guys with the worst handling skills as they know their bike handling is shit.
>>1003874
Well that's just shit riding by guys who spend too much time on the trainer.
