the catch me outside girl and her eleven brain cells were signed to atlantic records, how does it feel that shes a millionaire and you're not?
>>
>>75195637
she is /ourgirl/
>>
>>75195647
at least shes an actual girl
>>
>>75195637
I'm betting her music is shit.
>>
How do I feel that I'm not a 14 year old girl who is being exploited by her parents and the music industry and is universally mocked?
Good.
>>
>>75195657
i doubt she knows whats happening

>>75195655
you tell me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ioilEr3Apw
>>
>>75195637
Why do you think she's stupid? If she's a millionaire, she's smarter than me by the rules of the world we actually live in, and I have no complaints.
>>
>>75195675
If Chuck Berry was alive and young today, he'd write "These Heaux".
>>
>>75195687
yeah you do sound retarded
money doesnt equal intelligence, you would know if you had either of those things
>>
>>75195657
>exploited by her parents
she got famous because her mom couldn't handle how out of control she was
>>
Money means nothing
A large part of good music is created by people who don't have major label deals
>>
>>75195637
Like a failure.

I guess I'll wallow in it.

I mean it wasn't THAT bad desu
If she wasn't an infamous media criminal y'all'd be sucking her dick and calling her queen n shit.
>>
>>75195700
Yes it does, as you'd know if you were old enough to post here. Intelligence is about surviving in the world. Seeing through it, calling everyone a phoney, is not intelligence.

>>75195739
This isn't about good music, this is about prospering in the world. Cash me outside girl is smarter than all the retards who still have dayjobs at 40 so that their music can remain "pure".
>>
she's hot as fuck tho
>>
>>75195786
if youre into 13-14 year olds. lots of clips she looks older but some she looks like a total kid and its creepy

>>75195779
she got millions handed to her because she has a huge social media presence from being on dr phil, i dont call that being smart buddy
>>
>>75195770
I'm doing that now. I like her for the same reasons as I like Ke$ha and Iggy Azalea - unapologetically trashy girls who are completely unlikeable and irreedemable by PC feminist crap are always heartening to me.
>>
>>75195637
good
>>
>>75195736
You're naive.
>>
>>75195802
That is being smart, really obviously. That's how to succeed right now, not ten years ago or at some point in the future. She is rich before she even had to work, and she got rich through being blankly amoral jailbait. This is literally what rock and roll was always meant to achieve. She is what Elvis, and Chuck Berry, and Bo Diddley, and all those other horny bastards, dreamed of summoning into being.
>>
Thanks /b/

>>75195779
The point I was trying to make is that money doesn't matter, seeing how important is to OP.

Yes goy, capitalism is good! Now get back to work so Mr. Rosenberg can afford his new yac- I mean so you can live the American dream!
>>

if you ever actually been around a problem child like her then you would know her mother didn't put her up to being like this or whatever you're implying
>>
>>75195838
But money does matter. Money matters more than anything. That's why you and I have heard of every artist we've ever heard of - their wares were for sale.
>>
>>75195854
Dude, she only got on TV because her parents wanted her there. You don't fly to a TV studio with something you're ashamed of, you hide it.
>>
This is probably a weird thing to comment on but her lip-syncing in the new music video is so fucking shitty
>>
>>75195848
I love the only argument against capitalism is that its not perfect. grow up.
>>
>>75195856
Not true, by the way. Like I said, a large majority of good music was made by people who weren't filthy rich and didn't sell out stadiums.

Doesn't change the fact that she's a shitty mother, she's enabling it, this whole Cash Me Outside shit is a literal meme, the girl is playing a character and her mother recognizes the opportunistic side of it and recognizes the attention albeit it being almost universally negative and decides to cash in on it with her daughter, thus ultimately exploiting and whoring out her own child to our zombified social media nightmare world. You can't seriously buy into the Dr.Phil "bad kid" narrative.
>>
>>75195887
Yes it does, because prosperity=survival.

>>
>>75195922

>>
>>75195891
She wasn't just lucky, she deliberately set out to get famous, aided by her family. She's no different from Christina Aquilera or Taylor Swift, just a different social class.

>>
>>75195928
>Yes it does, because prosperity=survival.
>we still live in a life or death world

lmfao dude, separate intelligence from money and stop thinking in evolutionary terms and think in todays terms. you dont have to be smart to cash a lottery ticket
>>
>>75195913
The professional musicians who worked for pay and split up when it no longer made financial sense to continue? Why yes, I do.
>>
>>75195920
You should listen to them anon
>>
>>75195928
You can acknowledge that she's wealthy and that's it. Don't over romanticize every aspect of her success. Not to mention that no one takes her seriously and that she's milked her status of an Internet meme. How's that for a legacy? Perfect in your eyes, I'd suppose.
>>
>>75195929
Listen, I'm not saying she ISN'T a complete retard but her image and personality is calculated and meant to be provocative. Like, "Hey everybody look at this 14 year old girl who talks like a black girl and looks older than she is in pictures and attracts creeps and exploitative people looking to make a quick buck out of her and use her calculated image for mutual benefit! Isn't that something!"
See what I'm saying?
>>
>>75195944
>she deliberately set out to get famous
Yes, by unintentionally becoming a meme and then capitalizing on it. No one has ever done that before! What a genius!
>>
>>75195949
She didn't cash a lottery ticket, she built a media profile on purpose, then took an offer she got on the basis of her likely earning potential from other businesspeople. Grow up.

Yes, we do live in a life-or-death world. The noose tightens round the necks of every successive generation that doesn't get rich. There is no point in celebrating the "intelligence" that results in poverty with pomposity.
>>
>>75195994
yeah true but i feel like shes a 14 year old that acts like that anyway and the record labels and advertisers are just using her actual personality to cash in

SHE WENT ON DOCTOR PHIL, SAID SOME STUPID SHIT TRYING TO FIGHT AN AUDIENCE MEMBER BECAUSE SHES WHITE TRASH, PEOPLE CAUGHT ON, AND SHE BECAME FAMOUS

SHE IS NOT A GENIUS, SHE JUST SAID THE RIGHT THING AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME
>>
>>75195987
1. I didn't romanticize it, you're the one being romantic.

2. I take her more seriously than I take teenage boys getting upset about her on this thread.

3. The only legacy that matters is financial.
>>
>>75196006
>There is no point in celebrating the "intelligence" that results in poverty with pomposity.
If anyone doubted this board is dead - here it is.
>>
>>75195995
She wasn't unintentionally appearing on TV as a conspicuous and outrageous character.
>>
>>75196034
>SHE IS NOT A GENIUS, SHE JUST SAID THE RIGHT THING AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME

That's all it takes.

>>75196054
Get laid.
>>
>>75196087
that doesnt make you smart, why are you so obsessed with proving she is intelligent
>>
>>75196069
So? That's not what she's famous for. A handful of idiots that appear on the Dr. Phil Show are equally as "conspicuous and outrageous." The only reason you are aware of her existence is because she said something retarded and """""funny""""" enough to create a meme out of. That's literally it.
>>
>>75196087
The awe aspiring final blow of a man with no arguments - "get laid". I'm sure the lack of culture is nothing but positive for a nation. You're also pretending that music production is the only way of making a profit. Listen to this man, learn something:

>>
>>75196137
she got lucky
>>
>>75196101
Why are you obsessed with ignoring her obvious intelligence?

>>75196137
It wasn't retarded, it was a deliberate provocation. You must think wrestling's real if you think this girl didn't set out to be famous. Most people who become memes disappear. This girl capitalized on it immediately.

>>75196156
You presumably mean "awe-inspiring". I don't need an argument because I'm not the one whining that reality should be other than what it is. This IS American culture. All popular music is this. None of it is better or worse than this, and not to accept that is to be naive. I never suggested that music is the only way to make a profit, but I don't think you meant to write that anyway. I'll watch those videos of some old failure pontificating when you get laid.
>>
>>75196286
She got lucky in that her parents took her to Dr. Phil to launch her media career. About as lucky as Taylor Swift or any former stage kid.
>>
>>75195637

>It wasn't retarded, it was a deliberate provocation. You must think wrestling's real if you think this girl didn't set out to be famous. Most people who become memes disappear. This girl capitalized on it immediately.
What fucking point are you even trying to make? Yes, she set out to be famous after she realized she could capitalize on making a fool out of herself. The point is that that doesn't make her intelligent.
If you honestly think that a fucking 14 year old meticulously planned her rise to stardom by going on a TV show that her parents set her up for and using that particular phrase that she somehow knew full well would make her a meme, then you're even more stupid than she is.
>>
>>75195831
She is lucky you fag. Do you really think she intentionally created a meme, do you really think she was a bitch to her mom, ONLy in order to become a fucking meme, then create music, jesus. fucking idiot fagggot, I dont care i you are baiting. kill yourself, fag.

>>75196583
Yes, it does make her intelligent. It's not the phrase, it's the attitude. Not how she said it, but what she said, she knew would get attention.
>>
>>75196678
You actually think people go on Dr. Phil against their will, don't you? You believe in the world of Dr. Phil. No wonder you're getting angry at the real world.

She intentionally said something outrageous that became a meme. She intended to be famous, she knew her fame would take place mainly on the internet, call that being an intentional meme creator if you like.

>>
>>75195675
OK, I clicked on this.

I think this is the most exciting mainstream pop record I've heard since Work by Iggy Azalea.

I mean, this is the musical equivalent of Cannibal Holocaust. This is a kid taking on the deliberately freaky, disturbing sonics of current black music, and her voice is somehow both singing, yelping and rapping all at once. It's this really basic and explicit expression of aggression, and the video is set in this dystopian world where only publicity and violence exists - which must pretty much be her vision of America. I like this.
>>
>>75197416
It's what she said, not the way she said it. She was being threatening, and the way she did it got attention. She then capitalized on this.

Not entirely, but to a large extent. You get a lot of free time living under a bridge, but you're not apt to enjoy it to the fullest.

No, the one dimensional mindset is the idea that there's something objectionable or unfair about other people's wealth. It's just life. Get some ointment for your butthurt.

And? making 150k a year doesn't mean much when you barely spend any time at home, or are overly stressed and over worked

> the idea that there's something objectionable or unfair about other people's wealth
never even implied this.
>>
>>75197495
No I don't. In reality, if you're poor, your kids are likely to be poor, and it's harder to be the first prosperous person in your family than to be the fifth or sixth.

>>75197512
I don't think Bregoli is in any danger of death from overwork, do you?

>never even implied this.
Yes, you and everyone else getting offended over absolutely fucking nothing are all implying this. "Oh no, a record not even aimed at me has been released, and the recording artist didn't *deserve* her success, seeth seeth". What the fuck are you even actually angry about, if not that you're not rich and she now is?
>>
>>75197536
>if you're poor, your kids are likely to be poor
You said "the noose tightens around those who don't get rich." you're changing your words

>I don't think Bregoli is in any danger of death from overwork, do you?
cherry picking

>doesn't deserve it
i just got into the thread, so i never did imply that. lots of people don't deserve their success anyways, so i don't know why people are mad. that's like saying it's unfair people are born with better genetics
>>
>>75195675

>>

>>
>>75197444

>>
>>75197587
No, I'm not changing my words, I'm writing two different sentences in two different posts. They mean the same thing. You found the first one dramatic, fine, but I'd stand by it as the truth. Poor people's kids get poorer in real terms.

No, it's not cherry-picking, the irrelevant hippyshit of "don't work too hard maaan" was brought up, I brought the subject back to the topic of the thread.

Lots of people were implying it, which is what my post was addressing. Why tell me off for commenting on posts you haven't even read, dipshit?
>>
>>75197634
>You have no idea of what you're talking about and whatever you're attempt to achieve here works for her target audience.

Could you clarify what this sentence means? It seems to change meaning twice.

In terms of absolute value, yes. It's all the same. Popular music is either all of value, or all garbage. On the basis of the claims made for it by those who listen to it, it cannot be partly valueable and partly valueless, because the claims are 90% sociological and only usually about 10% aesthetic, and even that 10% is sociologically inflected.

>>75197646

No, I just like the record, like the idea of how she came about, think she's handled her fame intelligently, and can't see why people are getting salty about any of this.
>>
>>75196865
>Taking advantage of something isn't a sign of intelligence.
Should have stopped a reply short of this, anon. Everything in this world is literally just the product of people taking advantage of the resources around them.
>>
>>75197716
"Not rich" and "poor" aren't the same thing

>brought it back to the topic
i thought the topic was "she's intelligent for doing [simple thing]" and "mo money is mo betta"

>lots of people were implying
doesn't mean i did. maybe you should read my own posts first? I even agreed with you, and you still sound butthurt for some odd reason
>>
>>75197740
You know what that sentence means and you haven't been responding to one person here. Absolute value of music? Interesting proposition. How do we measure this again? Popular music is either all of value or all garbage, right? How can you even pretend there's a way of measuring this objectively? You can't, but you'll try just about anything that could work on someone who's not interested in music. How did you arrive to 90:10? By objective methods I'd presume.
>>
>>75197770
>Everything in this world is literally just the product of people taking advantage of the resources around them.
That's exactly why it isn't a sign of intelligence. It's something that literally every living thing does.
>>

The topic is this - people find this performer offensive for reasons they haven't thought out. I'm asking a question of a single facet of their offence, the idea that she's not intelligent. They have no basis for this.

You waded in to attack me while I was addressing those posts, you were essentially defending them. That's what it amounts to when you derail a discussion - the person you fuck with gets the disadvantage of your involvement.
>>
>>75197815
No, you've slightly missed what's being said there. Things that are built or accomplished in the world, the sum of which make up the civilization you and I have the advantages of living in, are the result of that. Not every human does that, let alone every living thing. Most of us just sit in our ruts and survive. The successful take advantage of their opportunities. Bregoli has taken advantage of her opportunities.
>>
without context, this is better than grimes
>>
>>75197793
No, I don't know what the sentence means. Read it again, you didn't make sense with it. You're saying half of two different things.

There are two ways of seeing it. Either you're the sort of person who thinks some popular music has merit and others don't - and it's a waste of a life to be that sort of person because you're always on the defensive in battles you won't win and that don't matter anyway. Or... it's all of value, in which case, you can have far more interesting conversations, because the KINDS of value are infinitely variable. Bregoli is equally and differently valuable to... whoever it is you like.
>>
>>75197835
>reasons they haven't thought out
And you are here claiming that "money = intelligence because prosperity" and other doom and gloom bs. The people you're replying to are just as poorly thought out as you are

>derail a discussion
this thread is a derailment of this entire board
>>
>>75197882
Could you explain why you think what I said is "doom and gloom"?

No, the thread is on topic for the board.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people on this board who have a permanently pouting, melodramatic view of the world, and when people say "hey, people work for pay", you accuse us of being edgy nihilists or something.
>>
>>75197300
those studies are biased due to the nature of the researchers themselves. bias will always exist as long as a human is put in charge.
>>
>>75197914
>Could you explain why you think what I said is "doom and gloom"?
"oh no if you're not rich your kids are gonna be poor. the noose is tightening. it's life or death!" It's self explanatory

>on topic
this thread is not about music

>nihilist
you don't know what a nihilist is apparently
>>
>>75195637
This is pretty amazing.

Did you read the posts I was replying to?

This thread is about music, you fedora.

Yes, I do know what a nihilist is, the point was that you don't seem to.
>>
>>75197300
>>75197931
>Disproving a study which wasn't even linked
I'm at a loss for words.

It'd be futile to deny, she's got flow. The number of textures she gets her voice into here is remarkable.

The anon is probably just employing basic logic, to be fair. Is a sociologist likely to find that his salary predetermines his unhappiness? No. Is he likely to think that people rich enough of him to envy are predetermined to be unhappy? Well of course. Human nature isn't complicated.
>>
>>75197975
>Did you read the posts I was replying to?
Yes

>this thread is about music
No

>I do know what a nihilist it
You do not
>>
>>75197958
>"oh no if you're not rich your kids are gonna be poor. the noose is tightening. it's life or death!"
it's funny because the way you're quoting him still implies the importance of money in any situation. you can't just out-think currency, anon
>>
>>75198056
Then you know I was responding to boil-in-the-bag idealist generalities about money not mattering, who seemed to think that all the best music was made by people who worked for free.

Yes, the thread is about music. Bhad Bhabie is a musician, this is a thread responding to her career so far. There will be better ones, less spiteful ones, ones with no anger or envy, but this is a thread which, despite those qualities, is still about her musical career, with links to tracks she's released, and some attempt to discuss them.
>>
>>75195637
>how does it feel that shes a millionaire and you're not?
SHE CAN SUCK MY BREGOLI!
HOW BOUT DAT?
>>
>>75198074
It's also funny to me because people who scorn concern for money are wearing big light-up signs that say "I AM A PARASITE UPON THE PEOPLE IN MY LIFE", and they don't even realize it.

h-hold on a second anon you wouldn't be implying that all other rappers are musicians as well would you

i can't agree with someone who thinks this
>>
>>75198124
Obviously they are. Musician was defined by about 1956 as "anyone who can get away with it", there's no sense in having sticks up our ass about craftsmanship at this stage in the game.

it's not. she was famous and well-off before this. this thread is about whether she deserves that or not, and belongs on /b/. the fact that you think otherwise tells me you're 1) baiting 2) an idiot

>>75198111
projection

>>75198074
>the way i'm quoting him
i'm quoting him directly. and it's not about money being important. it's about comparing being/not being rich to a life/death situation (overly dramatic)

good night, faggots
>>
>>75197846
My point is that it doesn't inherently take a lot of intellectual effort to take advantage of something. Deciding to drive to work an hour earlier on a specific day so you won't get caught in traffic and be late for work is an example of taking advantage of an opportunity. Deciding to go to a friend who's really good at math to help you with your calculus assignment for school is another. Making a fool of yourself on national television and realizing you can capitalize on that because you've made a meme is one more. That doesn't make you an intelligent person. It means you're capable of basic critical thinking.
>>
>>75198167
A thread about whether a musician deserves a career is still on-topic, there have been countless threads like it on here.

What role do you think "deserving" should have in a pop career? What does "deserving" even constitute?

It's not projecting though, is it? I know the value of money, plenty of others on this thread don't, and they all seem to be actual or figurative children.

To anyone not autistic, what I was saying was clear, and is pretty inarguable. America is a capitalist country, and if your poor, you are fighting a system designed to lose you like shit off a shovel.

Bye coward.
>>
>>75198177
Basic critical thinking is a criterion of intelligence. Bear in mind she was being accused of being a total airhead at the start of the thread. Being someone society is trying to turn into a victim and making money from it is intelligence. Most people who are memes don't get much happiness out of the situation. She sued people for violating her intellectual copyright. She also clearly went on that show with the desire to be famous, and to be an aggressive presense. This is controlling your own narrative, the shit Madonna is credited with but never really did.

Define "musical instrument"
>>
>>75198250
It's not man, it goes back to plainchant - the voice is an instrument. A vocalist is a musician.
>>
People have gotten rich for worse reasons. Besides, she got popular out of collective outrage, and people still hate her, though I think she's probably too stupid to fully process it
>>
>>75198276
i think it might be like a Great Value mayweather and she doesnt give a fuck if shes hated cause it brings in money
>>
>>75198255
>>75198265
rapping doesn't really elevate from "people speaking in prose very quickly" all that often, most of it is carried by the beat. the first thing most listeners look for is a good bassline and nothing else.
>>
>>75198276
I think she thrives on it. I mean, hip-hop is her culture, she's not dabbling, you can hear in her writing that she has absorbed that world and its emotions of rage, greed and derision totally. I'm not saying that condescendingly, those emotions are totally valid sources for an artist.
>>
>>75198296
What the listener can analyse in the music doesn't have any real bearing on what's present, as I'm sure you know. Rapping is vocalization, it's a way of playing an instrument.
>>
already more successful than grimes
>>
>>75198327
if it is an instrument it's definitely one of the less important ones in hip hop
>>
>>75195637
>and her eleven brain

>>
>>75198296
Rap isn't written in prose. It's a rhythmic vocal delivery.
>>
>>75198348

never really said that but the beat is what keeps listeners engaged, acapella isn't something most people look for or care about. imagine someone like lil pump or playboi carti with none of the beats behind them
>>
>>75195883
Manchild.
>>
>>75198448
Yes you did say that, and no, the beat hooks the attention first, then the words take center stage. There's not even a debate to be had about this, only whites looking for production techniques to rip off listen to hip hop mainly for the beats. If that were true in general, it wouldn't be possible for people to put out mixtapes where they use others' beats to spit new bars over.
>>
>>75198448
we've heard carti without a beat and that shit was trash

It's not terrible at all. If you're intothat kind of music it's actually fairly decent.

Listened to/Watched her video

Literally indistinguishable in quality from most rap, like Lil Yachty or Uzi Vert or 99% of other modern hip hop.

At least she has huge tits to go along with it.

>>75195655

It's better than anything Chief Keef has ever released.

I don't know if that means it's good or not.

In which way was she bold? You know, there are things a person shouldn't be proud of.

I don't think she is. Not only does her parents control her finances since she's a minor, but she hasn't done anything to actually earn millions of dollars.

It's not her money, it's Atlantic's money, they made her, they can break her as well.

One of the reasons why they signed her is because they know she's dumb enough to want to get signed to a major.

They can use her however they see fit, I doubt they'll make much of a return for chasing a fleeting fad.
