It's probably because it is a bop album made by someone in Japan. That is pretty hard to come by, and no one else in Japan was doing that in the 70s. Mind you, this isn't nearly the best in its genre and he wears his influences on his sleeve. Bill Evans, Ahmad Jamal, even some Herbie are pretty obvious in his playing

why is there so many unknown albums on youtube that have 2+ million views?

I feel bad that he died last year without realizing his modern popularity.

the album cover is rather gaudy, it easily grabs peoples interest. i didn't expect it to be a jazz record by the look of it.

It's got decent cover art and the music is average and easy to listen to.
