Modular synths are a meme.
>>
the whole POINT is that they can in theory make any sound
>>
What's the point of a modular system if you're going to keep doing the same thing you can do on any synth? The real beep boop problem is that most users are to lazy to multitrack and arrange it.
>>
>>75145959
40 years later and they still can't.
>>
I'm building my own.
I got into modular because i love electronics.

I've never been interested in software at all.
twiddling knobs and patching is a fun and intuitive way.
no menudiving, installing, drivers and all that shit.

tl;dr its fun as hell.
not for you? no problem.
>>
>>75145959
No, that's kind of an overly naive way of looking at it. But they're more flexible than other tools.

Still if you want more flexibility for weird shit, software is generally a better choice.

>tfw have a multifx board that can offer more variety then any of those setups and is probably one tenth the cost
Feels breddy good.
>>
>>75147793
Variety isn't as important as sounding good and I've never heard a multifx with good natural sounding reactive overdrive/fuzz/
>>
>>75147900
Granted im not a musician at the professional level, but im guessing getting a quality fuzz box with a multifx would really cover just about everything you need right? I mean each individual stompbox in those pictures is like 50$ at its cheapest and 150+ for quality ones. Shit gets expensive fast
>>
>>75147950
It all just depends on how much you wanna spend and how fussy your ear is I guess. Individual stomp boxes give you a lot more choice about how things are ultimately gonna sound and the way you route things, cascading overdrives and lush sounding analog delays/chorus etc are just things you'll never get in a multifx.
