It's great
Post a mega pls
Bjork is trash
Prove it
hurry before its gone
https://soundcloud.com/ttleakx/btg
Doesn't really sound like what the interviews described, sounds Vulnicura-ish. This has to be the intro track.
picosong.com/wwCFn/
we finally open de gate
(now we need moar quality desu)
The song just cuts off at the end, which isn't unusual. But it's right in the middle of her singing, wonder if that's supposed to happen or because of whoever ripped it
>>75145800
Thanks for sharing that...
someone pls upluoad the full version song
It's just okay

>>75146259
I don't know, I just read it has a proper outro.
>>75146259
from her forum:
it's 6:39
it just sort of gently winds down as she adlibs "do do... do dooo...."
it's kinda medulla esque in that i think she sings the same "do dooo" melody on oll birtan??? i'm not sure
split into ma-ny partrtrtrtrtrtrtrtttrtrttssssss
>>75145723
>>75145869
So boring. Grimes, hurry up with LP5.
>>75146355
The album as a whole is supposed to be upbeat, this sounds like the first track on the album, a bit of a continuation from Vulnicura.
And there are other female artists apart from Bjork and Grimes you know. Check out Susanne Sundfor's new one, though you might think that's boring too, check out the album before that if you want energetic stuff.
>>75146355
lmao
>>75146389
>>75146408
I really miss '90s Bjork... She should bring the fun, the melody and the beats back.
>>75146389
>Check out Susanne Sundfor's new one
Boring too. What's up with these artists that make good and enjoyable music and then turn it into a serious / mature / dull / hookless mess?
>>75146504
>>75146530
This is just one track, the album is apparently very melodic.
It's nice but I'm getting tired of neoclassical influence, I miss the explosive moments of Biophilia
>>75146560
I hope.
>>75145723
Sounds boring and Arca produced.
Hope the album has some bangers.
Wow it's really good
arca ruined bjork.
bjork is overrated
>>75146811
Nah.
>>75146794
yep
i like it but it sounds like a vulnicura song
it would make sense for this to be the opener, the gate from vulnicura to this new album
Full version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aggndwy-6OQ
I love it
kek a bunch of plebs on her forum are hating it
it's great
>>75147063
christ that was stunning
>>75147161
Yeah I think the interviews about it being happy and upbeat got their hopes up too much. People are acting like Bjork personally attacked them or something, I think it's great and we've still got the whole album to come
i love it when artists use tracks like this for the first single
feels much more artistic rather than commercial
>>75145869
cheers buddy, unless you've tricked me into thinking this is new, in which case, thanks anyway, great tune
It’s great, hopefully the album title, cover and release date will be revealed soon
>split into many paRRRRRRRRRRRts
muh dick
I care for you ;_;
I definitely care for this track
this new album's gonna be great
>>75147161
most of the criticism seems to be that it sounds like it comes from Vulnicura and they wanted to hear the happier music she said she's bringing.
It sounded like a bridge between Vulnicura and a "tinder album" to me, so I don't know why they're so mad. Good track, I am excited for the album
gosh bjork's voice makes my skin crawl. has that horrible european accent that comes out when they speak english
make it stop
>>75148666
>happier music
the thing that bothers me the most is that, what the fuck were they expecting? a debut? I love the path she's taking
can someone post the lyrics
>>75148763
https://genius.com/Bjork-the-gate-lyrics
>>75146355
(you)
I agree with what everybody else is saying about it sounding like a continuation of Vulnicura. This leaves me adequately excited for her album.
>>75148666
>It sounded like a bridge between Vulnicura and a "tinder album"
I agree. Going from a breakup album 2 years ago to a happy album (like Debut) about dating is dumb. This song is about rediscovering love after heartbreak and I think it does a good job of showing that the relationship in Vulnicura left her damaged but she's finding how to love again. Criticisms about the song not being happy is retarded
>>75148869
>This song is about rediscovering love after heartbreak and I think it does a good job of showing that the relationship in Vulnicura left her damaged but she's finding how to love again
holy fuck you're a fag
>>75148883
It's Bjork's own explanation about the song you fanny

yeah what a fag huh us manly men dont have time to talk about girly things like love lol (even though thats what the album is about)
>>75148918
You still found it necessary to talk about and described it like that.
>>75148943
There's nothing masculine or feminine about being a sentimental crybaby. I get over relationships as soon as they end.

>>75147161
I don't think I've ever seen so many negative reactions to a bjork single on her forum. Kind of sad, at least the vibe is positive elsewhere.
>>75145970
Maybe its a transition
>>75149329
It's not, the ending was just cut off.
>arca feat björk
>disappointment.
>(luckily i didn't preorder)
Fucking 4um plebs
>>75149455
I just want to hear it in full at high quality right now when will music streaming services understand this?
>>75149840
didn't mean to reply
Man it was boring. Reminded me of Biophilia, my least favorite Bjork Album.
>>75146504
Yeah I missed her too. I really love Debut, Post, Homogenic and Vespertine and I like Vonicura, the rest I don't like it very much. Maybe she lost it, I don't know. I was waiting for something more like Vespertine and I felt got something more like Biophilia.
>>75145723
It's meh
>>75148919
haHAA
Sounds like Vespertine put through a Vulnicura filter but with the strings replaced by woodwinds. Not a catchy hook or melody in sight, very texturally intensive stuff. I think this is gonna split people right down the middle. I'm cool with it, though it's definitely ballsy for a lead single.
Nothing mind blowing but very nice, like a warm blanket. Love this as the first single too
>>75151094
She needs a genius producer to help her make masterpieces again. I dare to suggest Claire Boucher.
>>75149455
It's a grower. Someone who said they hated it before loves it now lol
>>75152236
She could do it herself. I don't know why she needs this producers. Stonemilker was produced by herself and was her best song in 10-11 years.
I haven't listened to much by Bjork before, but this song is really good.
>>75145723
Possibly unpopular opinion: I don't like whatever that Bjork album art is supposed to be.
>>75152581
Not album art. Just a promo shoot.
>>75152581
That's just from a recent photoshoot, no album art yet, this is the single artwork though.
>>75145723
It's amazing.
>>75145906
I think it's fair to say that /mu/ overhyped this as some sort of Vespertine 2,
which I laughed at consistently, but now that I listen, it honestly this kinda sounds like if you consider shit like Aurora and Sun In My Mouth.
We'll probably get some poppy stuff, too I think.
But this is gorgeousness
>>75149455
I pre-ordered... It was like $30.
Where's my email? Where's my download?
Why should Spotify and the world get it before me?
Kinda miffed desu. My gf told me just now she put the lyrics on insta like that. Once again, where's my email?
>>75152890
OLI said pre-orders of the album will be sent out a week early so that's something.
>>75152890
It's a single, you're getting the full album.
>>75152937
If you pre-ordered the album you get a free download of the single.
>>75152986
What country are you in? This was only supposed to be Australia/NZ I think.
>>75153041
I'm in the UK, it's for everyone who preorders.
The single was up on Spotify Australia/NZ first since it was midnight there. OLI haven't sent out download links yet, wouldn't be surprised if they don't get sent out until Monday which was the original release date lol
>>75152936
God I hope so.
>>75152937
I was supposed to get an email giving me the download codes on the 18th.
Then I got on here and it's already leaked, headed to Spotify.

>>75153180
>>75153136

So this wouldn't surprise me in the slightest...
I just think we should have gotten first dibs.. Spotify is for losers and I pledged allegiance to the Bork with $30 in her pocket..
>>75153197
Better question: who cares?
Plebs cannot stop my hype train.
>Days gone

>muh lyricism
I'm appreciating it a lot more on second listen. Weird choice for a lead single, but the moody eeriness of it works in its way.
It does seem like an odd single choice at first, but as a transitional track from Vulnicura it makes sense that this is the one she wants us to hear first.
>>75154746
Just like how she said All is Full of Love could’ve been the first track on Vespertine, this is sort of like Vulnicura’s last track.
Care for you

>>75154980
Also she's no stranger to using tracks meant for her albums on newer releases. Who Is It was meant to be on Vespertine.

>>75156452
This. It's a nice accesible rhetorical device for plebs because, by rendering anyone who might disagree "one of the brainwashed", it effectively withdraws itself from any rebuttal.
There are some interesting audio sprinklings throughout this otherwise boring track
Post it
>>75152236
Her best work was with Neelee Hooper, but I think she would also sound great if she was produced by Emile Haynie(Eminem, Lana Del Rey FKA Twigs), Paul Epworth(Adele, FKA Twigs), or Trevor Horn(Produced Frankie Goes to Hollywood's debut album, and also mixed trance music with rock on T.a.t.u's debut album).
>>75152679
This looks like the material they use to make Barbie mermaid tail fins with; it looks a little cheap, but I still love it.
I-Its just a transition song guys...

Absolute garbage. She needs to go away.
It sounds fucking amazing.
I'm surprised so many people here don't like it.
where can I listen to it FUCK
>>75158209
Mr. Pitchfork here, I'll give this album a 10 and a BNM if you let me fuck you in the ass.
I like it. It does sound more like something off of Vulnicura but I liked Vulnicura and Bjork said this album would be more upbeat than it so I don't expect this song to represent the entire album anyway.

Vulnicura's successor is here, and it's perfection.
Recap on what I think Bjork is right now:
>After bleeding everything into Vespertine, Medulla was her last good album. Stands back, bare production, etc. Ethnic and fragile.
>Has her kid, realize she's hitting 40 and wants to avoid the Numales and go back to Post, but not stray from the idea of innovation she claimed to always pander to
>Volta is the "energy" album where she hires Timbaland and a tranny to add spice. Unfortunately her melodies are going and she even ends up just shouting over one of Mark Bell's instrumentals.
>People don't like it
>Gets scared and basically changes her "viewpoint" on music
>Has a severe midlife crisis and hires some animators and Japanese people to invest in the trendy app idea
>Makes an album that tries to be a modern Well-Tempered Clavier but end up being mediocre. She blew TONS on overdone music videos and app ideas that no one downloaded.
>Has a breaking point
>Husband divorces her, has issues with keeping kid
>Her bestish friend and main producer Mark Bell dies suddenly
>Bjork gets paranoid about death and falls into depression
>Tries to stay young by covering the circles under her eyes
>Goes on /mu/ looking for what the kids call innovative
>Meets Arca
>She makes music "for her age" all sad but powerful with strings, uses Arca for electronics, does a VR stunt that no one cares about
>It's a hit because people missed her honesty
>She reads comments complaining about Arca but is scared because she thinks HE's the one who made the last album good. Releases the string versions and Keeps Arca
>Wants to try again at reviving Post
>Doesn't feel like it
>Loosing her voice, doesn't feel like singing too much. Makes a second Vulnicura while pretending to be happy
And here we are.
>>75161614
Forgot to add that she's now using words like "sexist" and "Trump is le bad man"

>>75161614
One of the worst posts I’ve ever read on here tbqh
She’s not pretending to be happy, if you look at pics of her with the guy she’s dating or when she’s out with Arca she can’t stop smiling.
Her voice still sounds amazing and it’s better now than it was on the Vulnicura tour going by recent shows.
She is never going back to that Post sound, I’ve seen comments after the new single of people still hoping the album will sound like that lol, it is going to be happy and uplifting though, she said she’s moving away from Vulnicura, the new single makes sense as a transitional song

Will people stop taking the piss about Arca? People in this thread have been sitting here and saying that he's ruined her but I fail to see that. >>75168376
this
>>75168449
I'll wait to judge Arca's involvement until I hear the album
>>75168376
I'm speaking for my self and not for every idiot in this board, but i was really expecting something different this time, but it was more of the same...
>>75168567
She said All is full of love could've been the first track on Vespertine, and she said The Gate is AIll is full of love 2 basically, linking Vulnicura with the new one, we'll probably be getting something different, the sound of the album that's been described in previous interviews does not sound like The Gate.
>>75159465
Grimes is much better than Bjork. She's like Bjork v2.0. improved and expanded.
>>75160120
Huh? Grimes uses Ableton Live. I doubt that Bjork could make even 1/10 of what Grimes does in her studio. Grimes creates magic.
>>75161520
Not that anon, but no one cares if you didn't listen to Grimes, you idiot. Listen to what you like and shut up.
>>75168794
And Bjork used ProTools and pushed it to its limits on Vespertine. Far greater than anything Grimes has ever done.
would've been so much stronger as a 3 minute track
just feels like small islands of structure separated by boring down time
>>75169050
There's actually a radio edit that's about 3 minutes long, haven't heard it but apparently the intro's cut.
Wow... as someone who's found arca's recent output a little hit and miss, I think this track is absolutely phenomenal.
This track is beautifully arranged. The production is nothing but stunning and doesn't over crowd the song (which is an issue I had with Vulnicura).
I fucking love the way the reverb's applied on those ultra high frequencies at around 1:30.
>>75169011
>Far greater than anything Grimes has ever done.
Vespertine is just elevator music. Style without substance. She needed to show up her tits in the Pagan Poetry video to sell some units. And don't get me started on Hidden Place video. Grimes is superior in every way, even voice. Bjork's voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
>>75145800
easy with all that edge there friendo
>>75168567
She's said again and again that it isn't more of the same. You don't have to believe her but she's adamant that this new album will be upbeat and melodic and has been saying this since a short while after Vulnicura came out. I don't know why she wanted to release a lead single that sounds similar to Vulnicura if that's the case though.
>>75169916
I hope then, but yeah, if the album is like that, the gate is a weird choice for a single.
>>75161520

As a more recent Bjork fan I have to say Vulnicura was legitimately her best album and I expect this one to be good too. She doesn't have a bad album but there's something really desperate-sounding about some of her music, like she's trying to make up for something she doesn't have by just being as aesthetically wild as possible. It's only recently that she sounds more comfortable with how her music carries itself, like she's ready to get serious now.
