I don't get why it's so good.
Literally. I'm not saying I don't know why it's revered, I just don't know how it ends up being so great despite being so lame in theory. It's just fucking boring middle aged dudes making largely inoffensive rock music with a singer who can barely sing and who writes songs about being a boring middle aged dude.
And yet I fucking love it. What the fuck is this shit.

Trouble Will Find Me is their only good thing

I feel the same way so I'm glad I'm not alone. I think part of it is how holistic it compared to other aging indie darlings recent album (Death Cab and Modest Mouse come to mind)
I'll Still Destroy You and the title track for best songs

That's how all their albums have been though..
Slipping Husband is the first song that comes to mind
It's a classic case of average idea, excellent execution. This group knows what they're doing and they do it well. I'm enamored with this album and I can't explain why.
probably the band i despise the most
tepid medley of indie cliches

Trust me man I've been there.
Definitely a grower.
Still not a fan of Turtleneck and that other experimental track, but it starting to have the same Boxer feel to it, sort of.

ITT: /mu/ posters who haven't really liked the national until now.
>Albums is okay, but it's so far my least favorite album by the band. I appreciate them trying to break their mold with electronic elements though.
