we're in a golden/platinum era of rap

obviously it isn't the same as it was in the 90's

but don't you remember the 00's

rap is pop now so there's obviously a high volume of shit
but imo even our pop rap is bearable right now compared to past eras
and our good rap is really fucking good. so good that it caused/led the rap resurgence that's filling the airspace with so much low effort shit.
we're witnessing a fundamental shift in the nature of pop music, it's actually pretty cool but unfortunately a lot of people seem too racist or rockist or whatever to appreciate it. feel bad for you guys.

I don't think it will ever become the main thing again though, and it peaked in terms of popularity with 50 Cent around Get Rich or Die Trying. That said it was at its best in the mid 90s east coast scene.
