It sounds like actual music, I'll give you that. I could believe this as a track on a real neofolk artist's album. Not a particularly good one, but "real" in a way lots of /mu/scians fail to accomplish. Can't explain it. Keep writing.

Its not really an issue, but to me its like a loop of one melody phrase. You throw some little changes in there, but it doesn't really change up the rhythm or add any suspense or anticipation that a really solid "catchy" melody has.
My advice would be to write the main rhythm of your hook on paper. Then figure out where you want that rhythm to lead to something that audience can follow along like a story. Then you can add pitch to your melody by determining where you want the melody to take the listener. Songwriting is so fun for this reason!
