i really liked this album, but there are some lyrics on it that really perplex me and i was hoping you guys could help explain what they mean

is he admitting his racism in this line? or is it like a comment about institutionalized racism?

why are they gassing a body after the person is dead? or did sufjan's mom commit assisted suicide via gas chamber? or was she executed by the state?
