What does /mu/ think of Genesis? They're definitely dad rock, but are they good or bad dad rock? Also, does /mu/ prefer Peter Gabriel era Genesis or post-Gabriel Genesis? What are their best albums?

the term dad rock, what's it really besides dads listen to it?
I could see it applied to Led Zeppelin,ACDC or Rolling Stones
but for Yes,King Crimson,Velvet Underground or those bands that weren't readio friendly...could it be applied that easily?
or is it a term to classify famous bands pre 1980s?

They became a shitty pop band after Gabriel left which is when they really blew up. My dad loves them and Slade.

Dadrock is really just successful mainstream acts that every dad would know. Our kids will call Kanye West and Maroon 5 dad music someday.
