Where should I record if I can't record at home? Renting a studio sounds over the top and I'm shy

in the garage

unless you're making a professional album don't bother renting a recording studio what a waste of money. Why can't you record at home btw and what are you recording? If it's vocals you could just do what struggling rappers do and get a $20 mic from an electronics store, hook it up to your laptop and record in your shower (providing it's a single enclosed shower)

Vocals, I'm renting a room in a family's house and I can't make too much noise. I never wanted to rent a studio I knew that would be an answer and wanted to nip it in the bud
>>
in a car
you can't really record drums though

I run into this ALL time time. it's infuriating I know. My parents room is right next to mine and my brother and sister make noise/play loud music all the time. Plus, I live on a busy street which and cars come by constantly. You just have to deal with it. I've learnt to record after peak times where there's no cars. Normally that means very late at night.

I meant I can't make too much noise, not that there's too much noise around me.

I'm gonna do this thank you

Drive somewhere quiet and record in the car
>>
>>75031191

You can't when the noise is louder than your own voice. It doesn't hinder me much anymore anyway.

are there no rehearsal spaces near you? what about local community colleges, if it has a music department, it probably has a practice/rehearsal rooms that may or may not be locked depending on the school. another anon suggested driving somewhere where its quiet and recording in your car. iirc isn't there some guy who recorded an album entirely in his car in the late 90s i think, like with reel to reel and stuff, sounded pretty decent.
