Soundcloud posters will be drawn and quartered. (Just kidding, getting angry about soundcloud posters is just plain silly. It won't stop them! But also, don't post soundclouds, this isn't the place for that. You just end up looking down syndrome retarded if you do. Retard.)

Only similar thing I know is axoloti, bought one but haven't used it yet as I have to put it in a case first.
That said I also have a micro modular, but I would like more knobs and processing power (= more voices).
>>74958677
MSP is too low level IMO, it's just annoying to use. Might as well do real programming at that point.

Everything. Download some synths with good presets (serum, omnisphere) and drum samples and learn about synthesis and mixing. Watch a video or two. Also start getting used to basic effects. Reverb is your friend.

25mb of 320kbps mp3 is like 10 minutes worth of music, you don't need better quality for clyp demos.

>>
Best DAW for sample based production? I'm at my wits end with Logic.

What I want are tools that let me adjust the pitch and tempo of samples independently in the least destructive manner possible.
>>
>>74979492
I assume you're working on ableton
(If not, I can't help you)

there's a "pitch knob" just on the left of your sample, down in the tempo/warp window
automate that accordingly
>>
>>74980008
my bad you already said you're working on ableton, so there you go

of course, knobs automations are easier and more intuitive with a MIDI controller instead of your mouse/arrow keys
>>
>>74979085
i fucking hate adhd music like this
it's very nicely made though, just not my cup of tea.

the vocal sample that comes in at 1:20 is out of tune.

>>

actually I use drum samples a lot, loops too

I cut them with a gate, some beat crasher and a little delay
works like a charm for subtle hats
>>
>>74980744
What do you use instead of drum samples?
Kontakt libraries are good but having a huge sample library is more comfortable, specially for hip hop and edm. Synthesizing your own drums when you're new is a ridiculous idea.
>>
>>74980952
Vocals are too much in the back

Feels like the lows are being boosted way too much.
Too much activity on the right side in comparison to the left.
>>
>>74979840
logic can do that haha maybe you should watch a tutorial

it's PRESETS that are cheating

Sounds a lot better dude.

I'm getting some sharp frequencies on my headphones though. Maybe keep your midrange away from the highs more.

Listen to the intro and you'll find it easily, its in the drumstick count aswell. sweep frequencies in those parts I'd say and look for excessive activity. You should be seeing peaks I'm pretty sure.
>>
Wanna add vocals to this. Some high pitched female vocals. Wondering how much I'm fucking up since it's kinda different.

BTW it's harsh so maybe turn down the volume. No need to listen to more than a minute either.

Your Gay Modern DAW: Stupid, ugly, little ribbons represent notes, pathetic horizontal axis (passive, vaginal), tiny little needle nebbishly rolls from left to right across the dead unmoving track like a broken needle sliding off a greasy dead hooker's stomach

Anyone know how to deal problems when rendering MIDI? I have a track of MIDI strings that just gets cutoff when trying to render it, pic related. I would guess that the problem lies with the plugin I use, but I have rendered without a problem with it before.

Can someone explain enharmonics?

How do I know if I am using an interval in its minor or augmented or diminished form? Is it just that augmented or diminished implies the note is an accidental within the mode?

A rendered MIDI track running a strings plugin, in the pic I posted the top track is how it turns out when I render it and it should be like a continuous waveform. But instead as you see it just gets cutoff for some reason.

Sorry it's not your cup of tea, but appreciate the kind words too.
>>
>>74983585
you should try separating the pluck that comes in at 2:38 it's kinda weird to have it come in in the left ear only. Maybe have the bell phase from left to right, for some more movement in that part.

The kickdrum that adds to the build up sounds a bit sharp. If you blast it on full volume it actually physically hurts your ear. You can hear it when you lower the volume aswell. Sounds like its peaking at 250 to 300 or something.

Think it's panned a bit too much to the right aswell. Like it's a guy in a room next door playing the kickdrum with his door open.

Other parts sound good.

If you want you can give me a way to contact you if you need help in the future.

What's the best solution for drums, samples of synthesis? I like the whole 808 and 909 thing but looking to expand my pallet. Should I get more samples (literally the only packs I have) or look into a drum synth? Also are the D16 drum machines any good? (desu i'd probably be only using them for their samples)

I'm really glad you like it
about two months of actually working on it. I started an idea that was just a small 19 second track and made a wemb with animation for it, then shelved it like 10 months back. I posted the webm on /wsg/ months later and it blew up so that gave me motivation to finish it.
>>
>>74988070
im not sure about things like synthesia i have a keyboard that has built in lessons

there is shit like xfer chutlu that helps you come up with chord progressions and arpeggios
>>
>>74979085
i know the other guys mean well with praise but this song needs a lot of fine tuning

the arrangement is fine (though i think you need to layer the synth to fill out the low end or something)

side chaining/swell isn't *just* right, the panning is too exagerated in a lot of spots, there should be a much more obvious transition at 1:00 in (reverb decay, a new source of reverb to make it all far back and some lowpassing), switch up the drums samples between parts, the drop at 1:18 doesn't hit hard (the build could speed up with more exageration) and everything needs to drop out faster when it's only playing a random sample

idk if you've been posting a lot, i haven't heard any of your songs in a while but they're pretty much the same problems from the last one i heard. Your songs are cool but they always feel like 70% done
>>
>>74980930
I synthesized them when I started. It sounded like shit but I learned an assload from it. It depends if you're process or results driven I guess.
>>
>>74981350
Are 808 or Linndrum samples cheating?
>>
>>74989237

They're no more cheating than using the original machines is cheating, since you're not creating sounds from scratch there either.
>>
>>74986051
>are you retarded or do you just have a need to make everything more complicated than it is? it's all relative

Idk... it's kinda important if you wanna communicate with other musicians who speak that language. It can also affect the many you conceptualize harmony when writing, leading to different outcomes. Of course it doesn't matter if you're just clicking in notes on a piano roll thru trial and error until something sounds right.
>>
Is there anything like JustinGuitar for piano? I'm not trying to become the next mozart or anything but I would like to be able to produce better stuff on the piano for my songs. I'm not terrible, but I could be better

>>
Does anyone here use reaper? I'm wondering if it'd be worth buying since it's so cheap. I'm just not sure how preferable it is for a midi and sample based user.
>>
>>74989323
You're just going to call it a 2 or 9 when communicating. Nobody is going to give a fuck if you call it a d# instead of e flat in c minor

>>74989213
Tbh I assume everyone who really cares about synthesizing their own hits is a try hard. I do it ocasionally but it's for experimental music lol. It's not hard to do but there's not much point to it for simple stuff unless you just really suck at keeping a sample library or you want to feel like you made everything from scratch

>>74989731
Just ask faggot
>>
>>74989774
Is it really that complicated? Surely there are guides or something online
I don't anticipate it being easy to do but it seems like everything else in the price range is significantly less powerful than the Minilogue. System-1 is interesting but I wish it had more keys. I'll look into the Mininova though I guess
>>
>>74989796
Reaper is amazing. It has many options for midi and audio routing. I can't say anything about sampling though. I've used it as a multitrack recorder and mixer and it is great for that.

Also, reaper is "free" so you don't really have to pay for it ever, but at $60, it's nice to support the developer.
>>
>>74989846
I did a quick look into and you'd have to design/arrange oscillators, envelopes, amps, filters, deal with turnings, control voltages, midi, a microprocessor, pcb fabrication, parts collection, housing. It might be easier for a digital synth but idk. A monosynth is a lot easier than a poly.
