Got a refurbished KRK 10s subwoofer at a music store not long ago. Sounds pretty good for what I use it for -- definitely powerful. I paid a little over $200. Used/refurbished might be your best bet

Go to a pawnshop with $75 cash. I got a $400 powered sub. Has worked great for years.

This is great stuff to buy used, given you're able to test it out before buying it. you'll save alot of money
