Give Khemmis and Baroness a listen, OP. They're pretty light on the ears while still displaying a sound of heavy riffs.

Electric Wizard's Dopethrone too since they were probably the next big thing to happen to doom metal since Sabbath themselves. They're stuff is a lot more droning and abrasive at points though but they changed the way doom metal sounded.

I don't really care for Burzum. Varg's work falls into that category of black metal where it's sound production sounds like shit and is all fucking gargled together to sound like an annoying buzzsaw with someone screaming way out in the distance.

I do like some black metal elements that pop up in like crust punk and d beat though. Kvelertak plays with some black metal sounds. Chelsea Wolfe has experimented with black metal on her newer album.

The only black metal bands I really listen to are Deafheaven, Oubliette, a bandcamp artist named Worsen.


Also Varg is a shit person but if you dig the music then I guess continue listening to it. Pantera is in a similar boat with me where I dig the music but Phil is a fucking clown.

New Bermuda was a bit more metal. For Sunbather I had to delete that drone track and interlude that's just fucking nonsensical talking though. The album flows better with out that bloated shit on it.
