What does /mu/ think about the ultimate funk that is Parliament-Funkadelic?
>>74940943
They were the ultimate and in some ways still are. My uncle helped start the band with George. Predated hip-hop/punk etc.
>>74940943
they were good
>>74941033
Holy shit, who's your uncle?
>>74941160
Fuzzy Haskins, left the band in 77' .
>>74941636
No shit. I know about him. It's a small world. Thanks for sharing, anon.
>>74941636
Damn, that's awesome. Mad respect to your uncle, anon.

waiting for Medicaid fraud dog, if Clinton finally releases it some day
very little hope for Bootsy's new album
anyway, they're old now, they're not really ultimate anymore
good thing as many bands are as worthy of interest as there were in their shadow during their heyday

No doubt keep on funkin'

Not the point. Thier modalities was felt through every aberration/mutation before rock &roll had to battle with sub genres, their toes also dipped in soul and psychedelia coupled with almost every major black artist pre dating the turn of the century. They aren't /weren't just a band they are an institution.

so what
James Brown or Sly Stone are also institutions on par with P/F in being cornerstones in funk development
what I was saying is that after seeing them several times from 2005 to 2012, I wouldn't bother anymore with their news (of course I would sell a kidney to see them in the 70's)
sure, an institution stays an institution, but imo there are plenty of modern funk bands a lot more worthy of getting your money than this one who doesn't need to prove anything they haven't already
George Clinton can do no wrong!

Yea part's of James Brown backing band from the JB's were merged into Funkadelic in 1972. They were literally the same borg. The condescending anecdote from chronology is kind of obvious since half of the band members are dead anyways.
