I liked the album but seriously, what happened to the production of this thing? Their worst album production-wise by far. It sounds too low and nondynamic. Which is really weird considering that all their other albums had great production work.
If the tracklist wasn't so catchy and fun it would be a really shit album and their absolutely worst.

Cause Mark Ronson

right now
hey faggot, tell me:
how fucking new are you?
I liked the album but I gotta agree, the production was bad.
Thanks Ronson.

>Ronson
Josh Homme is an idiot solely for considering to work with him

>i only came to this thread for directions away from this thread!
i like to imagine you walk around in the supermarket, turning into an aisle like "I DIDN'T COME HERE TO BUY PASTA" and then throwing box after box of macaroni onto the floor until you shit yourself and have to be dragged out by your hair, leaving a gross brown streak across the floor.
i mean, you're doing it here. why not everywhere?

I really want some kind of high quality live performance of these songs. Especially something like Un-Reborn Again with sax and strings. They're all perfectly fine but the mastering has 'em sound like compressed, muddy shit.
I haven't liked the songs on an album and hated the production this much since Deftones' Diamond Eyes.

Gore had worse production than Diamond Eyes
>>74918375
i dodged it. Diamond Eyes and Koi Pond Yoyo left such a bad taste in my mouth that i didn't listen to Gore when it dropped, and I keep forgetting it exists except for the occasional thread here using its cover art as a starting image. maybe I'll finally give a proper listen this weekend.

listening to it right now for the third time. haven't had the time to give it a proper listen due to work, but now i'm finding that it's fun as fuck. might not be the grating hard rock of previous efforts and does sound a bit too polished, but man homme still writes great songs.

QOTSA is my favorite band and even though I'm a big fan of Josh as well, he's to blame too. In his Zane Lowe interview he explains the air-tight, really sterile production is exactly what he was going for and he's completely satisfied with it. And going by how much he adored working with Mark and how much he gushes about the guy in every opportunity he gets I'd say unfortunately there's a pretty good chance he'll be back, if only for one more album.
