How long did your prog phase last? At what age did you realize prog is not the best genre?

There is no "best" genre genius. There isn't a method for discerning such a thing and what's the point really?

probably around 14, when I first heard prog

When I was 17-18 and used to listen to nothing but Genesis, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant etc.
I cringe when I look back on those days now.

I thought prog was the best genre for a couple years until I started getting into jazz. I still think it's the best kind of rock music.

For however long In the Court of the Crimson King was. I don't listen to Prog.
When I discovered Jazz but Prog is stillI pretty fucking good, one of the best forms of rock and I can bet like 95% of the people who replied here don't play any instruments or know theory at all
the only tolerable prog is The Mars Volta.
