Why is it so corny when metalheads use their incorporation of classical music into metal as justification of how sophisticated they are, but it's not corny when hip-hop heads use their incorporation of jazz into hip-hop as justification of how sophisticated hip-hop is/can be?

"Wow, what an impressive stick figure cartoon! I guess the racists were wrong, illiterate 90 IQ brown people can make great art too"
- white liberals
A black person could record himself shitting into a paperbag and still there'd be some dumbass from Pitchfork drooling over its "incisive social commentary"

Electronic music incorporating classical music elements is the right thing to do.

Also metal is shit regardless of what elements it tries to incorporate.
its corny either way but jazz rap is more aesthetically pleasing and fits the current mainstream interests more than metal ever has or will

Nah, that's pretty corny too.
Aphex remixing Threnody was cool, but that was mainly just Aphex being Aphex.

>its corny either way
Is it? I don't think it is.
It might be because there's more of a direct lineage between jazz and rap, and/or because influential rap artists (think ATCQ, for example) used jazz samples a lot as the genre was being defined, whereas metal's relationship with classical is rather different.

Because whyte ppl are bad at doing things.

Jazz Rap is dogshit
just some shitty jazz loop played over and over again

Naw bruv.

it's because using classical elements just bolsters that overwrought "fuck..... this is so epic" approach more than normal metal already does. It feels pretentious and self important. Also you're overstating how much metal resembles classical in complexity.

Neither of those practices are justified by anyone with an ounce of self respect and understanding of music.
>>74804484
Especially when they're incorporated in some of the most mainstream genres.
>>74804480
jazz elements bolster the smooth & chill approach as well
>>74804475
Oh this is dope, I'll give you this one.
>>74804480
You know what, I think you might have hit the nail on the head with this one. I think you're right.
Best combo

Metal is for children meme will never ever end. This is a pendulum whose string broke.
It is extremely cringe for me ass jazz is improvisation and solos that are neither present in "jaz" rap
>>74804137
I don't think either are inherently corny, it just depends on how well it's implemented. Galneryus does a good job of incorporating orchestral elements into their sound, and I think ATCQ does and equally good job incorporating jazz elements into theirs. you can find really good and really bad elements of each

It's escapism of course it's going to be like that.
