John Lennon once referred to McCartney's cornier, pleasant ditties as "granny music".
So what are all of Paul's 'grandma songs'?
'When I'm 64' would be like the quintessential Paul granny song.

Maxwell's Silver Hammer, at least style-wise

I don't think I would call "For No One" granny music. The songs John called granny music were generally music hall inspired, like "Honey Pie".
All of them, especially Helter Skelter

For No One and Eleanore Rigby are very old-fashioned but they're another sadder type of throwback I guess.
I do agree that granny music in this case is more referring to the lighter little 'pleasant' songs.
Btw I really like most of these songs. I find Paul's songs very pretty.
I almost want to say Penny Lane but there's a subtle, betwitching magical quality to it that puts it on another level. It's almost just slightly spooky during the verses.
Love the song for some reason. I suppose it's very subtly druggy. It is like druggy, dreaminess when you're just in a bleary good mood.

what a toe-tapper!
