Diversify.

Be able to play well in different styles and genres.
Learn to read
Know some theory
Be easy to work with
show up on time and prepared

You'll often find that being "good enough" rather than "the best" and being easy to work will get you more gigs if the "best" guy is an unreliable cunt.

I base my entire career on it.
>>
>>74780587
But being reliable and easy to work with just isn't rock and roll, Anon.

neither is an 8 or 10 week run of Les Mis or sound of Music, but at 8 shows a week at $150 or more per call, I'm more than happy to monetize my playing.
>>
>>74780701
I was only teasing :)

That said, I get paid 350 britbong dollaroos a day to do nothing, so I know that non-rock-and-roll feel.

Your parents don't really want to find out that you are dealing with dark magic. The book is evil and if you keep playing those unholy notes and combinations you will summon Satan or his demons for sure. Just put the book away before anything happens.

I'm practising tremolo picked sings on my acoustic before i can buy an electric guitar. I'm comfortable till 170 bpm and cant play anything beyond that.
Will it be easier to tremolo pick on an electric or there's no difference?

>>
>>74781465
Some idiot on /gg/ telling you he had a pdf copy and you wasted your money.
>>
>>74781746
It will be much easier because the way you hold the guitar is much more ergonomic. Of course initially you might find it bit harder because you have been used to acoustic so you will need to re-learn proper posture and proper technique. But eventually it's going to be much easier. Be sure to be anal about your right hand form especially. Proper way to play electric guitar, if it's pretty much standard shape is to keep it on your left thigh. That way the posture resembles more of a classical guitar. Most people still play it on right thigh though. Best way to practice electric guitar is to stand though..

Nice stuff. Don't have much to say. But I think the guitars and bass fight over the same space. Bass is very middle frequency heavy and guitar sound is too wide. Cut back low frequencies (<200hz) from guitar and also tweak down the ~1000-2000hz range from the guitar as well.

It's a holdover from when Fender introduced basic names for their original series of amps, and kept using the same names despite major changes in circuitry. Deluxe is just a name associated with Fender amps in general, usually medium-ish wattage amps.

>Are the clean channels all the same with different gain channels?
No, they're all pretty different amps, and for the most part have little do with each other. Don't worry about the "Deluxe" part of their names so much.

It really depends on what kind of amp you want. The ones with effects loops are the Blues Deluxe (warmer/more vintage sounding), Hot Rod Deluxe (brighter/more modern sounding), and the Super Sonic, if you want to include it (sort of like the HRD, but has a hi-gain channel). Again, they're all pretty different.

Why is it important that you know what "deluxe" is the best anyway? Why not just look for an amp that fits what you want, instead of trying to find something based on a name?

LOL, not the way it happened. I'm the guy who said the guitar was Jap but I was arguing against the personality. I went to sleep after saying that the guitar was Jap one last time... When I woke up, I saw the meltdown.

He likes to post mutiple helper posts like, "You killed him, buddy." So, I went along with it and started helping the personality to tear me apart. Just a little fun to hype up his ego. I think the meltdown was his withdrawal from the whole encounter.

>>
>>74790759
I'm saying you're an idiot wasting your time and money, but you're an idiot so you don't understand what I'm saying. If you had anything worth a shit going on you'd have fuckers lined up around the block to record you and you wouldn't have to worry about bullshit like a home studio or monitors.

In other words you're "investing"(lmao) in speakers because no one gives a shit enough to invest in you. The issue is you're too stupid to recognize what that implies.

But yeah, go waste your time recording your shitty music no one cares about and then be perplexed when everybody continues not to care. Then you can rationalize it away with "I did it for myself" like every other failed musician who ever lived did.

I used the string tension calculator and it's suggesting 60-13's for c-standard but i'm worried about damaging my neck when i tune up to d with them on, I don't mind that they're going to be tight i just don't want to damage anything.

I can't imagine cheaping out so much on those mounting screws though, it's like they go out of their way to find the lowest quality shit possible. They obviously have good designs and machinery but they go out of their way to use the shittiest material they can get away with.

Starts Dorian, goes into Minor, then Mixolydian

The Mixolydian section is weird though. The bass is playing root, minor 3rd, minor 7th, which should clash with the Mixolydian's major 3rd, but they work together. I guess the tension is working similar to how it does in blues, where you can play minor pentatonic leads over mostly major backing. Anyway yeah, it's not just one scale, it's switching around over a simple backing which gives the lead more freedom. Notice rhythm guitar is only playing root and fifth the whole time

What's a good small wattage amp head and speaker cab (1x12 or 2x10) combination?

I plan to use lots of pedals and want a good clean sound. Don't care f there's a drive channel but if it has a good sounding one it's a bonus.

Needs to be able to a loud cymbal abusing drummer. I play jazz/stoner/psych type stuff.

I don't mind spending a bit more than that. I know 5W of tube amperage is more than solid state but I still want those cleans to be clean when I crank it next to my drummer. My friends Marshall DSL15 wasn't cutting it volumewise with the cleans.

Whenever there is a "minor third" in a Mixolydian Scale or Dominant Chord, it's most likely rather a Sharp 9th.

Dominant Chords like to be Altered to add tension, specifically by sharpening and/or flattening the 5th and 9th scale degrees.
>>
>>74798460
They definitely have a different vibe to a regular strat - the differently angled pup is perhaps better than normal -tightens up the bass and takes the edge off the treble.

If you have played one and like it, buy it.
I prefer my US strats, but theres nothing wrong with them
>>
>>74798596
Anyone? Basically, what's the most practical bridge design. Either a vibrato bridge that has a proper lock up system or a really good hardtail bridge. I know that the Gibson headstock, for example, has design flaws. Is the typical tune-o-matic bridge also bad?
>>
>>74798971
Defends on what you find comfortable. If you prefer your wrist resting on the body a fender style low profile bridge is comfier. Some prefer the raised tune-o-matic style. If a vibrato is something you find important you lose sustain. If tuning stability is important the compromise is set up and string change is a pain in the ass.

Everything in life is a compromise. No one can tell you what you prefer. There is no objective truth to any of this.
>>
>>74799034
depends*
>>
>>74799034
I was asking along the lines of old and bad designs, the PRS headstock is literally better designed than a Gibson headstock. Objectively. Or how a 3 saddle bridge just makes less sense than a 6 saddle bridge.
>>
>>74799064
>implying strength or intonation are the only factors in those designs

Hey I don't like 3 saddle bridges but Fender still sell em because there's a demand for them. Gibson are still outselling PRS.
>>
>>74799034
>>74799064
I guess I'll go for a good vibrato bridge with a tremol-no or whatever those are called.
>>74799097
Yeah, but not because they are objectively better but because people want them. PRS headstock = no tuning stability issues. 6 saddle bridge = no intonation issues. They're literally better, the fact that some people want to buy inferior products for "historical correctness" doesn't change that.
>>
>>74799125
