Most one hit wonders aren't one hit wonders. Devo is a very good example. The term one hit wonder is a retarded normie buzzphrase

Ignoring the fact that they fucking rule and have some wicked strong albums, even the literal aspect of DEVO's one hit wonder status is debatable; Mongoloid, Satisfaction, That's Good, Girl U Want, and Through Being Cool all did really well.

Exactly. Tiny Tim and Gary Numan also had more than 3 charting singles and a slew of albums. The only one hit wonders are people like tiffany

Generally the term is applied to artists who only had one single reach the Top 40. If a follow-up song reaches like #96 it's hardly a "hit", just a charting single.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins is only remembered for "I Put a Spell On You" from 1956 but he kept making cool music for the next 40 years.

Chubby Checker was huge in the early 60's. He had 19 songs reach the Top 40 from '60 to '63.
