I liked Hurry Up a lot. I think Wait is one of their best songs ever. That being said, Dead Cities is definitely more creative, and definitely less pretentious.

I read this and assumed that I could rattle off a few bands/acts that are good examples. But nothing really comes to mind.
Anything I can think of is super subjective. Like I think Fugazi's Red Medicine is their absolute best album, and a lot of people were turned off at the time because it was too weird. But I dunno how many folks would agree with me that it's their best.
I dunno OP. It's an interesting idea but I think it's also just a springboard into contrarianism.
