You can accuse Zappa of being pretty self-important but what a boring fucking reading of the album

People never seem to realise how dark this album is

sure, juxtaposed with lyrics about police brutality and pointless wars. This is one of the bleakest and least flattering portrayals of the 60s that I've ever heard

What this is really making fun of is the hippie 'image'; the kinds of what Zappa calls "phoney hippies" who wore the beads and flowers while protesting nothing but "dude weed lmao", and yearning for some empty vague 'revolution' of whatever without committing to any actual political thought

I've had "Flower Punk" stuck in my head for so fucking long jesus
