Why do people say these albums are similar?
Marquee Moon is about jazz like compositions with dark and tense lyrics with a lot of imagery
Is this it is about post-pop-punk with very simple compositions but with such a tight sound within the band that it works
Is it just a meme?

Both take a similar approach to having dual lead guitarists, have lyrics about New York City and the vocalists sound kind of similar. It's true that Television sounds more jazzy and improvised while The Strokes make more straightforward rock songs but the comparison is warranted imo.
