There's some good alt country out there now like shovels & rope and Shakey Graves. Not to mention guys like Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson. Both of their new albums are phenomenal.

Musically I like country just fine, but the lyrical themes in today's stadium country are largely extremely vapid and dumb. If you go back you can find some good sub genres (ex. Outlaw country) alt country is also pretty good, >>74675170 brings up some good examples, saw shakes graves at a local festival and was thoroughly impressed.

I'd recommend the Sadies 3 most recent albums of your into psychedelic alt country/folk rock.
