/mu is haven to a large number of hipster contrarians, and having genuine music preferences is anathema to that sort of mindset. Therefore any time a significant number of posters here happen to genuinely like discussing a particular musical topic (eg. the artist known as Grimes) and start posting about it here on a regular basis, these people rise up out of the woodwork and spew mindless hate. And since (nearly) everyone here posts anonymously (thereby making it virtually impossible to distinguish trolling contrarians from genuine fans) the end result is what seems to be the board overall having a totally schizophrenic love-hate relationship with certain key topics - eg. Grimes.
