Ironically, I think his songs I loved the most were the ones that were either originals or I was first exposed to his parody rather than the original...I would gladly defend many of those and would probably still know the lyrics to plenty of those songs even if I haven't heard them in years

But when I hear the original song first, the parody does feel more inherently derivative, so in that way half his classics are a bit boring to me

The real question is why looks so much like Kenny G

The parodies are usually pretty good, but his pastiches are his best works.

not saying much, but he makes legitimately funny songs generally and his original music is solid
