No, just cause it's not mainstream doesn't mean it's not dead. Hell, free/cheap as fuck online distribution is leading to an explosion in variety and availability of punk. It's just not pop punk. Well some of it is, aesthetically and sonically, but not actually popular.

Punk was never meant to be mainstream, and punk bands that tried to be mainstream, with one or two exceptions basically sucked after achieving mainstream success.

Punk belongs to the punks, NOT the businessman!
