If Who's Next was originally released as the double album Lifehouse, it would've been one of the greatest slices of AOR/dadrock cheese in history. Hit after hit.
Here was the original proposed track list.
>Baba O'Riley
>Going Mobile
>Time Is Passing
>Love Ain’t For Keeping
>Bargain
>Too Much Of Anything
>Greyhound Girl
>Mary
>Behind Blue Eyes
>I Don’t Even Know Myself
>Put The Money Down
>Pure And Easy
>Getting In Tune
>Let’s See Action
>Relay
>Join Together
>Won’t Get Fooled Again
>The Song Is Over
Given how much they were experimenting with synths then, it's possible that if Lifehouse had come out, we would see a greater adoption of synths as a main instrument in rock bands. Especially in such cyclical fashion like how they were used.
It might still come out.
