Does anybody know of any good Pavement-esque bands? I've listened to Pavement's discography to death, as well as plenty other 90s indie rock. I know there's a lot of imitators out there, but most of them (as it tends to go) are just kind of dull and surface level - they copy the sound, but lack the cool interesting songwriting. Basically I want something loose, mellowed, with songs that go in unexpected directions.
Specifically I'm looking for albums more in the vein of CRCR and onward. Nothing against anything prior, that's just not the mood I'm in right now.

Sebadoh
Built to Spill
Modest Mouse
Some of GBV's mid-period stuff, just a little
I've struggled to find something that scratches the Pavement itch myself, and nothing quite gets it. I've found listening to their influences tends to get me more than band coming after, i.e. The Fall, Television Personalities, The Replacements, etc.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of built to spill, the fall, the replacements, and GBV. Never could get into Modest Mouse. I'll check out those other bands though
