I'm not a fan of the raspberry in the first track, but otherwise that's a fucking great album.

i'm surprised i like it this much, i think it might be a perfect 10 for me
i liked don cab a lot too but this just trumps all of the don cab stuff so hard

Yeah it's a golden fucking egg for sure. When they break the lightbulb near the mic I wanna say in the penultimate track it's so fucking effective. I've been trying to find shit like it but to no avail. I don't remember liking their second album very much.

yeah, i think i'm just gonna spend the day listening to this on repeat
is this technically free improv? math rock is definitely a given, but all of the really long tracks seem very free improvisation-y, coming from someone who's never actually sat through a full free improvisation record before
also the vocals are so beautiful, i feel like they time them just right to keep them from going stale

On We Write Threnodies it always gets me when the vocalist goes "You're an electronic girl, and I'm a rock guy, I don't think we have a chance."
>is this technically free improv?
Absolutely.
The follow-up is good too, but Ian Williams always sounded the best when recorded by Albini.

i fucking love the guitar sounds they get at the beginning of that song, the vocals totally go along perfectly with it

i'll have to check it out

My favorite moment is on Today Is Totally Crashing starting around the 5 minute mark or so when the song starts to pick up in speed and ends in complete chaos.
>Storm & Stress were an American free jazz and experimental/math rock band
