I'm looking for more euphoric, pleasant ambient music. I've started DJing recently and want to play stuff that's welcoming, warm, optimistic etc. I've downloaded a load of stuff like Biosphere, Marsen Jules and Loscil, and they have some amazing tracks but a lot of it is quite dark and unsettling. Here are some examples of what I mean:

(the whole album, but particularly the track "Fantasy Breeze". Vaporwave stuff is welcome)
I'll try and think of more tracks to start this thread off and for reference.
Thanks in advance!
think stuff that makes you feel optimistic about the future

It only takes a couple grand to get an entry level turntable setup. Like four or five grand if you want pro gear. You'll have a lot more credibility doing something literally anyone with a phone can't do, worst part is crates of records actually get pretty heavy to lug around.

but why is credibility so important? what i want to do is put on nights and create a space for people to hear cool music. can you explain whats so important about using turntables and records? im genuinely curious
also do you have any euphoric ambient music to contribute while youre here?

It's purely a style thing. Plenty of pros don't touch vinyl because it's just not relevant to their genre but whenever it is relevant it's undeniably more entertaining to watch and entertainment value is a large part of DJing, playing good music is only part of it.
Not to mention the actual skill required to line up analogue music playing at different speeds and manage to make it mesh up nicely, on a computer a few settings and button pushes and literally anything can be made to perfectly fade and beat match into something unrelated.
Instead of ambient have an oldschool dubstep mix relevant to vinyl talk.

you gave two negatives, ie price and heaviness, and one flimsy positive of "credibility". maybe in the future thatd be cool when i have the money, but theres literally no poing in me doing that at this point. im not interested in being a dj, im interested in putting on nights and djing.

thanks for this mix though

It's one of the better dubstep mixes out there and it's unfortunately just some dude in his bedroom recorded in 240p.
Shame that dubstep got hijacked and then promptly forgotten after five years of American interest. The oldschool stuff was fairly simplistic but it was chill as hell while keeping that british underground EDM scene feel to it.

you know what, im not gonna buy a turntable but your post and this mix has made me want to seriously step up my djing game

Mine cost £100 (2 TT, mixer, amp, speakers)

It was a high number for the lower end of gear good enough for the actual work and beating they need to take and at new retail prices.
Depending on location and availability you could get crazy setups for entirely reasonable prices.
