Can we have a thread for Vince Staples? I wasn't really on /mu/ when Big Fish Theory dropped but it's my favorite hip-hop album of the year so far, and Vince has been putting out quality material since at least Shyne Coldchain Vol. 2. I know he's not exactly "under the radar" but I feel like a lot of people overlook him. And as far as rappers tackling issues about race, Vince seems to have some pretty nuanced opinions and conflicted emotions in his songs.
My favorite tracks on what I've listened to of his:
>Shyne Coldchain Vol. 2
Nate
>Summertime '06
Lift Me Up
>Big Fish Theory

> Big Time

Vince is mad underrated IMO. The dude is also funny as fuck if you watch his interviews

>fuck the government cause we own ya
>fuck the president cause we own ya
>white man dont wanna see the black man eat
Whoa, I really had to think those lines through, damn. Really though he's a fucking garbage lyricist all around and it shows especially when he brings up politics/social justice. He knew it and hired producers to make an album that focused on his occasionally above-average flow against the beats/production.
All in all BFT is just another hip hop album where I listen to it and go, "fuck, if only any other rapper was on these beats".

I think that he finds good enough producers that his output is all enjoyable, including BFT, but yeah, he's not the best part of music released under his name. Shame, because his voice has a good sound too.
Norf Norf is a banger though, I will not allow disagreement on this.
