>kick former leader out of his own band
>write songs about how much you miss him
>he comes back and offers to rejoin or just help the band
>nobody cares about him
>he leaves
>continue writing about how much you miss him and want him to come back
>literally never attempt to talk to him ever again
What the fuck is wrong with these guys?

I don't think that's what happened

It's past your bedtime Roger.

It's exactly what happened. Read "A Very Irregular Head," Syd wasn't insane in the slightest.
They couldn't cope with the fact that if Syd joined everyone would realize how the Waters era Floyd is mediocre compared to Syd era Floyd

This but the exact opposite. If Syd never left we would never know who Pink Floyd was. They would just be one of the many unknown brit pop bands

They were just exploding into popularity when they initially kneecapped themselves by canning Syd. For years, even after Dark Side, there were still people and journalists bitter and angry that they threw Syd out of his own band.

How about you quote wikipedia instead of what it looks like an extrenely biased book about barret?
the band with the worst lyrics
Syd was mentally unstable
it's good he left

Shine on You Crazy Diamond was written because of a negative review they received from a Syd loyalist. They wanted to "lovingly" send him off and finally walk out from his shadow.
When normies listened to DSotM they became fascinated with Syd, not the active bandmates. This infuriated the entire band, especially Waters. A Nice Pair was the original attempt to get that stuff out there and let it all blow over.

He doesn't state anything to be fact unless he can verify it. He can verify that Syd mistreated his girlfriends and was abusive at times, he can verify that Syd would stand about detuning his guitar during sets, he can't verify the ridiculous stories like Syd walking from Cambridge to London on foot and Syd being locked in a cabinet during a bad trip. That's not bias, that's doing basic research. Syd Barrett stories are literally unsourced legends based on the myth that he was "so crazy!"
