Endless Fantasy is the pinnacle of chiptune by an incredibly long shot. Aside from Prom Night, every song on that album is fucking incredible. It's pretty much the only essential chiptune album.

I used to be really into she. Haven't checked out what he (yeah, despite the name it's produced by a guy) has been up to in awhile and not everything he does is chiptune but I would say his chiptune releases are pretty good.

Also was really fond of Vacation Wasteland by Slime Girls.

The first two EPs from crying were pretty good. I didn't really like their last album as much as a lot of people seemed to though.

Honestly, meh. Its rock with some chiptune in it. Id hate to get all purist about a genre so niche, but I cant enjoy this in either one of my electronic moods or my rock moods.

It strikes me as "this would be cool" but it never got fleshed out into anything big

Prom Night is a great song. Anamanaguchi's straight up pop songs are their best. Their chiptune/pop punk stuff is dull as fuck.

Rise of the Obsidian Interstellar is absolutely essential if you find chiptunes interesting. Not made for a specific game it stands on it's own two feet qnd doesn't need a game to elevate itself beyond what the music actually deserves.
