I've been using Spotify for most of my music ever since I got a phone without expandable memory and had to rely on streaming services for my music. I was excited at first since I thought I'd listen to all sorts of new shit with their huge library and discovery feature; however, I find that I've actually discovered much less new music I care about over the last couple of years.
I think it's because I feel less connected to music I can just instantly pull from nowhere, as opposed to having to scour places like this and download strange megaupload files. I remember stalking threads, requesting music, seeking out specific styles and albums. It was so fucking exciting when the file downloaded and I pulled out the mp3 player for a listen.
Has anyone else felt this? The blunting feeling of an abundance of riches as provided by streaming services.
