What does /mu/ think of Sufjan?
Just listened to Illinois for the first time and really enjoyed it. Actually quite liked all the religious themes and the orchestral arrangements and choir-like (not really sure what else to call them) vocals were amazing.
I'll probably get shot down for having an opinion but if anybody wants to discuss or recommend what I should listen to next from him or other artists, that would be much appreciated.
Its hipstercore. I like it
It's /mu/core, you won't get shot down.

I hate Sufjan's Christmas stuff and I say this as both a Christmas fan and a Sufjan fan.

Try Illinoize?

Every year at christmas my family plays the exact same Michael Buble and Mariah Carey christmas music and after 12 years or so I am kind of tired of the same shit.
Do you think if I put on Sufjan's christmas music it will go down well? There are about 10 20-30 year old 'kids' and about 10 parents & grandparents as well.

Ahh my family are all very self-righteous atheists so maybe it won't be appreciated.

What genre is Illinoize?

This is a good post.
What did you think of Planetarium anyway?
How much did the others contribute to the album?

Honestly it's not really good. It's enjoyable but it can't compare to even the worst of his solo work.

seven swans is a must listen. think roman candle but less edge and more folk.
